Nurse-Led Community Health Organization
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Compensation: $185,000-$210,000
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Work Arrangement: Primarily onsite with limited hybrid flexibility

The Opportunity
Riam Recruiting is partnering with a respected Federally Qualified Health Center to identify its next Chief Clinical Officer.
This is a rare executive opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to serve as the organization’s NP equivalent of a Chief Medical Officer.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Clinical Officer will lead clinical strategy, quality, operations, and care integration across primary care, behavioral health, dental services, quality, and population health.
The organization operates through a distinctive nurse-led model, giving advanced practice nurses a meaningful voice in clinical leadership and organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership

Serve as a member of the executive leadership team.

Advise the CEO on clinical strategy, growth, staffing, programs, and resource allocation.

Represent clinical priorities in organizational planning and decision-making.

Build relationships with community partners, funders, government agencies, and healthcare organizations.
Clinical Oversight

Oversee clinical leaders across:

Strengthen coordination across departments, sites, and service lines.

Quality and Compliance

Lead clinical quality-improvement initiatives.

Maintain compliance with HRSA, federal, state, grant, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor patient access, quality, outcomes, provider performance, and patient experience.

Promote accountability across clinical departments.
Operations and Financial Performance

Partner with clinical directors to improve staffing, productivity, workflows, and service delivery.

Work with the CFO and executive team to support financially responsible clinical operations.

Balance patient access, quality, workforce sustainability, and fiscal responsibility.

Help clinical leaders understand the operational and financial performance of their departments.
Provider Leadership

Support provider engagement, retention, development, and collaboration.

Build trust and accountability among clinical directors and interdisciplinary teams.

Advocate for providers and clinical support staff.

Create an environment where leaders can raise concerns and help solve problems.
Clinical Practice

Maintain an active clinical presence approximately one day per week.

Provide patient care consistent with licensure, experience, credentialing, and organizational needs.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced clinical leader who can oversee multiple disciplines, lead senior clinical directors, advise the CEO, and connect organizational strategy with frontline care.
Qualifications

Current Pennsylvania Nurse Practitioner licensure

NP or PMHNP background
-
At least five years of direct clinical experience

At least five years of healthcare leadership or management experience

Experience leading providers, clinical directors, or interdisciplinary teams
-
Experience in an integrated or multidisciplinary care environment
-
Strong knowledge of clinical quality, operations, policies, and performance improvement
-
Ability to balance mission, patient access, quality, workforce needs, and financial responsibility
Experience with FQHCs, HRSA requirements, Medicaid populations, community health, or grant-funded programs is highly valued.
Behavioral-health experience is strongly preferred.

Schedule and Location
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a primarily Monday-Friday schedule.
Some hybrid flexibility may be available, but the role requires a regular onsite presence at the administrative office and visits to clinical locations.
Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance of Philadelphia. Candidates from nearby areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware may also be considered.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range is $145,000–$180,000, based on experience, leadership background, and qualifications.
The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package and participates in HRSA and Pennsylvania loan-repayment programs, subject to eligibility.
Relocation or sign-on support may be considered based on the candidate and organizational approval.
Credentialing
The selected candidate must complete credentialing before beginning clinical responsibilities. Credentialing typically takes approximately three to four weeks. Payer enrollment may continue after the start date.
