Senior Architect – Salesforce Platform
Position Summary
The Senior Architect supports the delivery, governance, security, health, and evolution of the enterprise Salesforce platform and its AI-enabled capabilities. This role translates platform strategy, standards, and guardrails established by the Principal Architect into executable solutions and operational practices.
The Senior Architect works across delivery teams to resolve platform-level challenges, implement governance controls, prepare for Salesforce releases and platform changes, manage shared capabilities, and ensure that security, licensing, capacity, and AI considerations are addressed throughout delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate enterprise platform and AI architecture direction into project-level solution designs, technical standards, and executable delivery plans.
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of Salesforce platform governance, security controls, shared services, and reusable capabilities.
- Lead architecture design for platform-level and AI-enabled initiatives.
- Evaluate Salesforce seasonal releases, new versions, platform features, and retirements for enterprise impact, readiness, risk, and adoption opportunities.
- Coordinate technical readiness activities associated with platform releases and significant feature changes.
- Support license, entitlement, feature-access, and platform-capacity planning in partnership with product, operations, procurement, and business stakeholders.
- Provide architecture guidance for identity, authentication, authorization, access control, sharing, data protection, encryption, auditing, and security monitoring.
- Monitor and improve platform health, scalability, performance, maintainability, limits, and long-term sustainability.
- Identify shared platform needs and design reusable capabilities that reduce duplication across delivery teams.
- Decompose platform and AI solutions into sequenced, workable technical deliverables with clear dependencies, implementation approaches, and ownership.
- Work with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Business Analysts, and Technical Leads to represent platform architecture through Jira epics, enablers, stories, and milestones.
- Remain engaged during implementation to resolve gaps between approved architecture and actual platform behavior or delivery constraints.
- Guide detailed technical decisions involving configuration, custom development, automation, integrations, data, security, and shared-platform services.
- Support AI solution delivery, including architecture, data readiness, security, access, monitoring, model or service integration, and responsible-use controls.
- Ensure AI-enabled capabilities follow applicable enterprise governance, privacy, security, and risk-management requirements.
- Review platform and AI implementations for alignment with approved architecture, standards, and guardrails.
- Document significant architecture decisions, platform risks, technical debt, dependencies, and approved exceptions.
- Provide platform architecture guidance to delivery architects, Technical Leads, developers, administrators, and support teams.
- Escalate material platform risks, cross-domain impacts, and architecture exceptions to the Principal Architect or appropriate governance forum.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Eight or more years of enterprise technology experience with significant Salesforce architecture and platform experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Salesforce platform architecture, governance, security, shared services, and enterprise delivery.
- Strong understanding of identity, access control, data security, platform limits, scalability, performance, integration, and application lifecycle practices.
- Experience assessing platform releases, new capabilities, technical risks, and enterprise adoption impacts.
- Experience translating platform architecture into executable technical deliverables and delivery backlogs.
- Ability to resolve complex platform issues across multiple projects and technical teams.
- Understanding of enterprise AI solution considerations, including data, security, integration, governance, and responsible use.
- Strong analytical, technical documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across global architecture, engineering, security, product, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce architect-level, security, identity, data, or AI-related certifications.
- Experience operating or governing large-scale, multi-team Salesforce platforms.
- Experience with Salesforce AI capabilities or enterprise AI-service integrations.
- Experience with license optimization, platform health management, and seasonal-release readiness.
- Experience in regulated, highly secure, or globally distributed enterprise environments.
