What You’ll Do

Our Community Support Workers serve as advocates, companions, and facilitators while supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism, and diverse behavioral and mental health needs in their homes and communities.

As a Community Support Worker, you will:

• Provide individualized support in the individual’s home and community
• Assist with household management, activities of daily living (ADLs), and errands
• Provide support with attending appointments and participating in community activities
• Encourage self-advocacy, communication, and self-expression
• Support the individual in working toward their personal goals and desired outcomes
• Promote independence while providing patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement
• Support participation in health, wellness, fitness, spiritual, and community-based activities
• Serve as an advocate, companion, and trusted support person
• Provide additional support as needed to promote a safe, meaningful, and fulfilling lifestyle

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous Peer Specialist experience required
• At least two (2) years of direct experience supporting individuals with Autism required.
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Minimum one (1) year of experience supporting individuals with behavioral and/or mental health diagnoses
• Ability to work independently in a home and community setting without direct supervision
• Strong communication, organizational, and technology skills, including the ability to use an iPad
• Candidate must be a non-smoker due to the individual’s severe sensitivity to smoke
