The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer to help engineer, administer, automate, and continuously improve our enterprise Microsoft 365 environment.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone with broad expertise across the Microsoft 365 platform and a strong record of operating services at enterprise scale. The successful candidate will combine deep Microsoft 365 administration skills with modern automation capabilities, including advanced PowerShell, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and the development of Microsoft 365 Copilot agents.

You will work across platform engineering, operations, governance, security, and user enablement. You will help reduce manual effort, improve service reliability, introduce responsible AI-powered solutions, and establish repeatable engineering patterns that can be supported at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Platform Engineering

• Administer, configure, and optimize Microsoft 365 services in a large enterprise environment.

• Provide engineering expertise across Microsoft 365 workloads, including:

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot

  • Microsoft Teams

  • SharePoint Online and OneDrive

  • Microsoft 365 Apps

  • Microsoft Entra ID

  • Microsoft Purview and associated compliance capabilities

• Define and maintain platform standards, configuration baselines, governance controls, and administrative operating procedures.

• Evaluate changes, releases, and service updates; assess their technical and operational impact and develop implementation plans.

• Lead and support pilots, migrations, feature rollouts, service enhancements, and adoption initiatives.

• Partner with security, identity, compliance, networking, endpoint engineering, architecture, and operations teams.

Copilot and Agent Development

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support Microsoft 365 Copilot agents that address business and IT use cases.

• Develop solutions using Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Builder, SharePoint agents, and Copilot Studio, as appropriate.

• Deploy and support Copilot connectors that securely ground agents in approved enterprise data sources.

• Develop governance frameworks, standards, and review processes for Copilot agents, including ownership, data access, compliance, security, and lifecycle management expectations.

• Implement lifecycle processes for agent intake, review, deployment, monitoring, change management, and retirement.

Automation and Power Platform Engineering

• Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone processes and replace them with reliable automation.

• Design, develop, and support cloud flows, approval workflows, scheduled processes, and integrations using Power Automate.

• Integrate Microsoft 365 services with internal systems and approved external services using Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, connectors, and webhooks.

• Establish appropriate ownership, monitoring, error handling, documentation, and support models for production automations.

PowerShell Development

• Develop production-quality PowerShell scripts, modules, and automation runbooks for Microsoft 365 administration and reporting.

• Use advanced PowerShell practices, including modular design, parameter validation, structured logging, exception handling, secure authentication, testing, and source control.

• Automate activities such as provisioning, configuration management, policy deployment, license administration, lifecycle management, auditing, and reporting.

• Modernize manual administrative procedures and legacy scripts into secure, supportable automation.

Governance, Security, and Operational Excellence

• Implement governance controls for identity, access, sharing, applications, agents, connectors, data, and service lifecycle management.

• Work with security and compliance teams to address data protection, retention, auditing, eDiscovery, access control, and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor service health, platform usage, adoption, configuration compliance, and automation performance.

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 incidents and service degradation.

• Coordinate complex escalations with internal operations teams and Microsoft support.

• Maintain architectural diagrams, configuration records, runbooks, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to engineering and support teams.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience engineering and administering Microsoft 365 services in a large or complex enterprise environment.

• Broad administrative experience across the Microsoft 365 platform, with demonstrated depth in major workloads such as Copilot, Teams, SharePoint Online/OneDrive, Entra ID, and Microsoft Purview.

• Advanced PowerShell development experience, including building and maintaining production-quality scripts and modules.

• Hands-on experience developing and supporting Power Automate flows and other low-code or API-based automations.

• Demonstrated experience designing or developing Copilot agents, conversational solutions, or comparable AI-powered business solutions.

• Experience with Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Builder, SharePoint agents.

• Experience with Microsoft Graph API, including REST/SDKs, app registrations, permissions, OAuth, credential options, and least-privilege access.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 identity, licensing, security, compliance, and governance concepts.

• Experience delivering enterprise implementations, migrations, pilots, and feature rollouts.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across identity, permissions, policies, APIs, applications, clients, and cloud services.

• Experience creating technical documentation, operational procedures, and communications for both technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across engineering, security, operations, support, and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying Copilot connectors for approved enterprise data sources.

• Experience with Azure Automation, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, or related integration services.

• Familiarity with Dataverse and Power Platform environment, connector, and DLP governance.

• Experience applying software-engineering practices to infrastructure and administrative automation, including Git, code review, testing, CI/CD, and release management.

• Experience establishing monitoring, telemetry, usage reporting, or operational KPIs for Microsoft 365 services and automations.

• Knowledge of responsible AI, information protection, data oversharing risks, and security considerations for grounded agents.

• Relevant Microsoft certifications.

What Success Looks Like

During the first year, the successful candidate will:

• Become a trusted senior technical resource for the Microsoft 365 platform.

• Deliver measurable reductions in manual administration through PowerShell, Power Automate, and API-based automation.

• Develop and operationalize secure Copilot agents for prioritized use cases.

• Improve platform reliability, configuration consistency, monitoring, and documentation.

• Establish reusable engineering standards for scripts, flows, agents, and integrations.

• Strengthen collaboration among platform engineering, security, compliance, operations, and support teams.

• Help turn emerging Microsoft 365 and Copilot capabilities into secure, supportable enterprise services.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
