Job Description

C&F’s Commercial Lines division delivers specialized insurance solutions for mid-sized and large businesses across a broad range of commercial exposures, management liabilities, and industry segments.

Our portfolio includes tailored coverage solutions for General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Property, and Excess Liability, as well as Financial Lines products such as Management Liability, Professional Liability, Cyber, Crime, and Fidelity.

Crum & Forster is seeking an experienced claims professional to join our dynamic team as an Auto Material Damage Specialist. In this role, you will manage an assigned inventory of claims arising primarily from Personal Lines Auto, Garage keepers Liability, and Commercial Auto Liability policies. You will handle claims within established authority levels and under the appropriate level of supervision. Based on business needs, the position will report to an assigned Manager and Vice President.

 

This is a remote position, but candidate must be located in Hawaii.

 

What you will do for C&F:

• Receives claims assignments, verifies and determines applicability of coverage.
• Determines the method and extent of investigation for each claim as required by company Best Practices.
• Reviews and manages outstanding files, as assigned, for adequacy and timeliness of investigation, evaluation and reserve and maintains a timely diary for each case.
• Evaluates and adjusts claims within the adjuster's authority level.
• Reports directly on technical matters to supervisor and management.
• Evaluates and manages auto material damage claims, determines future course of handling and proper method of disposition, including total loss handling. Consults with the claim manager on those claims in which assistance and consultation is needed, as well as on those claims which exceed assigned authority.
• Assesses recovery potential and is responsible for the development of information required to successfully pursue recovery.
• Participate in quarterly claim reviews and follow all claim handling requirements for special handling accounts.
• Accountable for the equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition in accordance with Best Practices.
• Responsible for providing superior customer service to all agents, insureds, and others encountered during the claims handling process.

What you will bring to C&F: 

• Three plus years of experience handling auto material damage claims.
• A college degree is preferred. Insurance designations or related coursework are a plus.
• A current Hawaii adjuster license is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to follow departmental policies, procedures, and authority levels in support of C&F’s risk management controls.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $53,200.00 to a maximum of $100,000.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
