Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Medical Assistant with advanced phlebotomy experience to join our primary care clinic. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently in a fast-paced clinical environment while providing exceptional, compassionate patient care.
This position will support providers with clinical procedures, patient care, laboratory services, and day-to-day clinic operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a high level of proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection.
Job Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and other clinical information
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws with a high level of proficiency and patient comfort
- Collect, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing and shipment
- Perform point-of-care testing and other laboratory procedures as directed
- Prepare and administer medications and injections within the scope of training and applicable regulations
- Perform EKGs and other clinical testing as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Assist with patient follow-up, care coordination, and communication as directed by providers
- Maintain appropriate infection control, safety, and OSHA standards
- Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive, welcoming experience for patients
- Assist with clinic events and other patient-focused activities
- Work collaboratively with providers, Medical Assistants, and administrative staff to maintain efficient clinic operations
- Perform other responsibilities as directed
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Strong phlebotomy experience required; advanced venipuncture skills strongly preferred
- Experience confidently drawing blood from a variety of patients and handling difficult draws
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting education preferred
- Fluent in English
- Spanish-speaking preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, laboratory specimen handling, and infection control
- Excellent patient-care and communication skills
- Able to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Professional, positive, and compassionate attitude
- Comfortable working in a membership-based primary care environment
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
