Description
Education and Experience: A High School diploma or GED, or higher and four (4) years experience in store keeping or inventory control work.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state.

Under general supervision, receive stock, conduct stock inventory and auctions, perform routine accounting functions, prepare reports and supervise assigned personnel.
Receive, categorize, store, reassign or dispose of items. Involves: Receive surplus property at warehouse, categorize, store and label for auction. Load, unload, move, store and secure materials. Operate forklift. Reassign equipment to requesting office, if appropriate. Prepare surplus, abandoned, obsolete and evidential property for disposal. Destroy property or evidence not fit for sale to the public.
Conduct monthly property auctions. Involves: Oversee and track items for auction. Prepare items such as vehicles and surplus items for auction. Work with comptroller's office regarding accounts and amounts in which to deposit Federal, State, or Confiscated funds collected from auctions. Promote and advertise City disposal and auction activities to the public. Respond to inquiries retarding inventory up for auction.
Record assets, prepare reports and perform routine accounting functions. Involves: Track City assets, non-expendable property and equipment with specified values by means of records or on-site inspections. Track transfers and thefts. Work with auditors and provide asset reports upon request. Count and deposit money from auctions and scrap metal. Research records and duplicate documents. Prepare account deposit and auction reports summarizing money allotted to proper departments. Maintain accounting records, file reports.
Provide management support for the inventory of item disposals. Involves: Oversee or assign staff to mark items or apply control labels for inventory purposes and physically account for assets for fiscal year end. Adjust inventory records to reflect all purchases and disposals and prepare inventory reports. Add new or re-assigned property and equipment to inventory. Enter inventory data into database. Maintain inventory records.
Supervise assigned personnel. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct in, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development; enforce personnel rules and regulations, and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Effectively recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes. Assure that warehouse area is orderly, safe and clean.
