Description

Access Control Technician

Travel Position | $25.00–$35.00/Hour + $50/Day Per Diem

Tired of having the skills to solve the problem—but working somewhere that only wants you to follow orders?

You know construction. You know how to work with your hands. Maybe you've installed fence and gates, poured concrete, welded, operated equipment, or worked around electrical systems.

But you're ready for more than being another person on the crew.

What if you could take the skills you've already built and turn them into a specialized career?

At Empire, we're looking for an Access Control Technician who wants to combine construction experience with technology, problem-solving, and craftsmanship while traveling to projects across the country.

We're not just looking for someone who can install a gate.

We're looking for the person who wants to understand how the entire system works.

The Person We're Looking For

You're the person who notices when something isn't right.

A gate doesn't line up correctly? You see it.

Something on the plans doesn't make sense? You ask the question.

An operator isn't functioning correctly? You want to know why.

You take pride in solving the problem instead of putting a temporary fix on it and walking away.

You're organized because you know a successful job starts before anyone drills the first hole.

You can work independently, but you also understand that the best crews communicate and look out for each other.

And when you're given the opportunity to learn something new, you take it.

Sound like you?

Then keep reading.

More Than Construction

Access control sits at the intersection of construction, security, electrical systems, equipment, welding, and technology.

You'll work on commercial security gate and fence systems across the country while continuing to develop skills that make you more valuable in the industry.

You'll be trusted to:

  • Install access control and security gate systems.
  • Read and follow blueprints, plans, and project specifications.
  • Perform low-voltage electrical work, including wiring gate operators and access systems.
  • Work with concrete and properly pour foundations for installations.
  • Perform welding as required for installations.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely.
  • Load and secure trailers with the correct materials, tools, and equipment for jobsite deployment.
  • Troubleshoot installation and quality issues.
  • Identify root causes when something isn't working correctly and help develop the right solution.
  • Maintain tools and equipment so they're ready when the crew needs them.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
  • Communicate daily progress with Project Managers and field crews.
  • Follow and uphold Empire's safety expectations.
  • Continue learning installation techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.

You won't be expected to know everything.

You will be expected to want to know more tomorrow than you know today.

We're Looking for Experience—and Mindset

We're looking for someone with at least 2 years of construction experience and preferably experience in fencing, access control, or construction quality control.

The right person will also bring:

  • Experience working with concrete.
  • Welding experience.
  • Heavy equipment experience.
  • Ability to safely load and secure materials and equipment on trailers.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer applications.
  • Clean motor vehicle record and valid driver's license.
  • OSHA 10 certification; OSHA 30 is preferred.
  • Dependable and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time, sometimes for up to two weeks at a time.

Most importantly, you need to be self-motivated, safety-minded, dependable, curious, and willing to take ownership.

What Kind of Person Thrives at Empire?

Our core values aren't complicated.

Grit – You keep going when the easy solution isn't available.

Loyalty – You take care of your crew and your company, and you expect the same in return.

Enjoying the Journey – We're serious about our work without forgetting there's more to life than work.

Integrity – Your work is right because your name is attached to it—not because someone is checking behind you.

Positive Mindset – When something goes wrong, your first question is, “How do we fix it?”

Our people have lives outside the jobsite, too. You'll work alongside people who spend their free time hunting, fishing, following sports, racing, being outdoors, and spending time with their families.

We want people who work hard because they're building a life—not people who feel like they have to give up their life for work.

Travel—and Get Paid for It

This isn't a position where you'll spend every day working at the same location.

You'll travel to projects around the country approximately 50–75% of the time, with some trips lasting up to two weeks.

Empire covers your hotel while you're traveling.

On top of your hourly wage, you'll receive $50 per day in per diem while traveling.

That means the time you spend on the road can help you build experience, see different parts of the country, and put additional money toward whatever matters to you—your family, your hobbies, your future, or simply enjoying life outside of work.

What Empire Offers

  • $25.00–$35.00 per hour
  • Company-paid hotels while traveling
  • $50/day travel per diem
  • 401(k)

Where Could This Take You?

You already know how to work hard.

The bigger question is whether your current company is helping that hard work turn into something.

More skills.

More responsibility.

More earning potential.

More opportunities.

A career you can actually be proud of.

At Empire, we're looking for someone who doesn't just want another construction job. We want someone who wants to become the person others call when the difficult stuff needs to get figured out.

If you've got the experience, the work ethic, and the mindset—and Grit, Loyalty, Integrity, a Positive Mindset, and the ability to Enjoy the Journey sound like you—we should talk.

You already have skills. The question is: how far could you take them with the right opportunity?

Apply today and find out.
