Job Description Summary

The Psychology Department at Miami University is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) to begin in August of 2027 and to teach courses primarily in the undergraduate curriculum with the possibility of contributing to the Department’s new combined Bachelor's/Master's program. Within the undergraduate curriculum, the Department has teaching needs at the introductory level in the content areas of biopsychology, psychopathology, and social psychology, and in service courses including research methods and statistics. The position will also entail student advising and meaningful service to the Department and University.

Job Description

The Psychology Department is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) to teach courses primarily in the undergraduate curriculum. We are seeking a candidate who is committed to high-quality undergraduate teaching and to supporting students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Preference will be given to candidates with previous undergraduate teaching experience. The Department has teaching needs at the introductory level in the content areas of biopsychology, psychopathology, and social psychology, and in service courses including research methods and statistics.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach several of the aforementioned areas at the introductory level and may teach advanced courses in their area of expertise. The position will also entail undergraduate student advising and meaningful service to the Department and University. Finally, there may be opportunities to contribute to the department’s new combined Bachelor's/Master's program area through teaching and/or advising.

The Assistant Teaching Professor position falls under the faculty classification of Teaching, Clinical Professors and Lecturers (TCPL). TCPL faculty positions are non-tenurable, continuing faculty positions with opportunity for promotion. The primary focus of TCPL faculty is to further the teaching mission of the University through high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and advising. As such, research and scholarly activity are not required aspects of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field by the date of appointment.
