Description
The CPS Supervisor will provide clinical and administrative supervision and professional leadership to a dynamic team responding to the needs of our most vulnerable children and families. The selected candidate will oversee cases involving protective services to children and families, assuring that complaints, investigations, and assessments are managed according to federal, state, and local policies, including completeness and timeliness. This position requires the individual to maintain a supportive work environment, with the ability to inspire and encourage productivity and teamwork amongst staff. Work is performed in a forward-thinking organization that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
The successful candidate will:
- Establish performance expectations and goals for the team.
- Lead a team of CPS workers with activities and plans to accomplish goals.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation in the unit.
- Cover emergencies and provide clinical direction to employees.
- Lead unit meetings.
- Monitor staff compliance.
- Work with a diverse and multi-ethnic population and workforce.
- Possess the ability to diffuse potentially volatile situations and deal with competing and demanding circumstances.
- Demonstrate capacity to manage crisis situations that require critical decisions involving people, resources, and property.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Bachelor’s degree required AND, four (4) years of directly related experience in a human services area to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous direct experience in Virginia Child Protective Services (CPS).
- At least one year of supervisory experience in Virginia Child Protective Services, along with a strong working knowledge of applicable Virginia laws and regulations.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field; clinical licensure.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.
