Position Summary: 

The Epic Revenue Cycle Informaticist supports the optimization and effective use of Epic Revenue Cycle applications and workflows across the organization. This position partners with Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, clinical, billing, coding, finance, and other operational teams to evaluate workflows, support system functionality, and improve end-user adoption. The Epic Revenue Cycle Informaticist uses workflow analysis, reporting, training, and process improvement to support revenue integrity, denial prevention, operational efficiency, and standardized practices. This position also supports system enhancements, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Revenue Cycle technology.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, including registration, scheduling, charging, billing, coding, claims, denials, or work queues.

Preferred:

  • Epic Revenue Cycle certification or proficiency.
  • One (1) year of experience supporting Epic Revenue Cycle applications.
  • Experience with denial prevention, root-cause analysis, appeals workflows, and operational follow-up.
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, workflow validation, integrated testing, training, or process improvement.

Essential Job Functions: 

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must maintain timely completion of all required education, trainings, and certifications as assigned and in accordance with Bozeman Health policies, department-specific requirements, applicable certification program and registry requirements, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Information Technology, clinical, billing, coding, finance, and business stakeholders to align Epic Revenue Cycle functionality with operational needs.
  • Assess, document, and optimize Epic Revenue Cycle workflows to improve revenue integrity, operational efficiency, denial prevention, compliance, standardization, and patient financial experience.
  • Develop and maintain Revenue Cycle training materials, workflow documentation, tip sheets, and standards and provide ongoing education and adoption support to end users.
  • Support Epic Revenue Cycle system configuration, content build, enhancements, integrated testing, upgrades, implementations, validation, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and workflows related to Epic Revenue Cycle applications and operational processes.
  • Analyze key performance indicators, work queue metrics, denial trends, claim edits, charge issues, workflow failures, and other operational data to identify improvement opportunities and support corrective action.
  • Develop and support reporting and analytics tools, including Radar dashboards, Reporting Workbench reports, and SlicerDicer use cases, to support Revenue Cycle decision-making.
  • Serve as a Revenue Cycle subject matter expert for workgroups, advisory councils, steering committees, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Evaluate system updates, workflow changes, reporting tools, and operational processes for alignment with quality, compliance, billing, documentation, regulatory, accreditation, and privacy requirements.
  • Coordinate implementation of system updates and workflow changes, including stakeholder communication, readiness, adoption, and post-implementation support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Schedule Requirements

  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

  • Cognitive Skills (Continuously): Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
  • Exposures (Rarely): Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed. Various chemicals and medications are used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
