Job Summary
Provides primarily technical support with some administrative support to geological, geophysical, and/or petrophysical personnel. Responsible for loading, entering, verifying, manipulating, analyzing, and reporting data related to well logs and seismic activity; providing advanced user support for software systems; and serving as a liaison to Information Systems personnel for more complex issues. Demonstrates mastery of software systems and procedures, takes a multi-discipline approach to projects, oversees the installation and maintenance of software systems and databases, provides the highest level of software training and technical support to team members, monitors and recommends new technologies for organizational use, and performs advanced data analyses with recommendations based on interpretation of data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides primarily technical support, with limited administrative support, to geological, geophysical, and/or petrophysical personnel and related stakeholders.
- Leads advanced loading, verification, manipulation, analysis, and reporting of well log, seismic, production, well history, regulatory, survey, and industry activity data used in geoscience evaluations and interpretation.
- Performs advanced technical support and advanced data analyses and makes recommendations based on interpretation of data.
- Takes a multi-discipline approach to projects and supports work that crosses geological, geophysical, petrophysical, mapping, and data management workflows.
- Oversees installation and maintenance of software systems and databases and coordinates with Information Systems personnel on complex issues when needed.
- Provides the highest level of software training and technical support to team members and systems users.
- Monitors and recommends new technologies for use by the organization and helps identify opportunities to better exploit existing technologies.
- Generates, reviews, and helps refine presentation-quality maps, exhibits, cross-sections, typelogs, and production analyses for prospect generation, regulatory compliance, and corporate use.
- Oversees data quality, software and data workflows, and project prioritization to ensure assigned work meets quality, timeline, and budget or feasibility requirements.
- Serves as an advanced technical resource across disciplines, applying mastery of software systems and procedures to complex technical support needs.
- Supports acquisition, maintenance, and optimization of geoscience software, hardware, and data resources, including vendor coordination as needed.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of geoscience technical support, geologic/geographic, or equivalent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced technical support, advanced data analyses, and recommendations based on interpretation of data.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- GIS degree/certification preferred.
- Experience with GeoGraphix and Spotfire software suites
- Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in a technical/business field preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
