JOB DESCRIPTION

The Badalona Neuromuscular Research Group (GRENBA) is a multidisciplinary team made up of specialised basic and traslational researchers in the laboratory at IGTP and clinical staff from the Neurology and Paediatric services at Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.

The line of research in which the candidate would work focuses on Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), the most prevalent muscular dystrophy in childhood.
We are exploring an emerging therapeutic target to reduce fibrosis and intramuscular, fat accumulation in DMD, and we have to validate this target in in vitro and in vivo dystrophic models we aim to decipher the molecular mechanisms involved.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cell culture experiments, including cell growth, maintenance, and transfection assays.
  • Molecular biology experiments, including FAC sorting, DNA, RNA, and protein extraction, qRT-PCR, and Western blotting
  • Planning and conducting research experiments with mice
  • Preparation and processing of cryosections for histological, immunohistochemical, microscopic and molecular analyses
  • Experimental data analysis and contribution to research reports and publications
  • Responsible for laboratory administrative tasks, including record keeping, inventory management, and documentation


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or similar
  • More than 2 years of research experience in the field of neuromuscular diseases
  • Strong knowledge of muscle physiology and skeletal muscle biology
  • Proven experience working with mouse models and mammalian cell culture, including experimental design, sample collection, and analyses
  •  Laboratory experience in FAC sorting, cryostat sectioning, histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy and molecular biology techniques
  • Strong organizational and teamworking skills
  • Languages: English (required), Spanish (helpful)
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals and knowledge in the management of Biological Databases will be valued
  • Skills in scientific communication and writing (scientific reports, scientific papers and public presentations) will be valued
  • Experience in people management and mentoring skills will be valued


WHAT WE OFFER

  • 1 year full-time Senior Laboratory Technician contract, with the possibility of extension for an additional year.
  • Date of incorporation: 1th October 2026
  • Gross remuneration: 28,000 euros gross per year in 12 payments.
  • Flexible payment (childminding vouchers).
