Description
The purpose of this job is to conduct inspections and re-inspections of residential, industrial and commercial plumbing systems to assure compliance with municipal, State of Michigan and national plumbing codes and identify defects in plumbing systems and connections.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Conducts inspections and re-inspections of residential, industrial and commercial plumbing systems to ensure code compliance
- Maintains records and schedules for plumbing inspections
- Inspects sewer and water installations
- Reviews plans to plumbing installations for new construction and existing structures
- Provides inspection services to other municipalities and townships
- Inspects medical gas systems
- Processes Backflow test forms to ensure compliance with current Plumbing code, MDEQ and Local Ordinance requirements
- Investigates plumbing system complaints involving pressure and water quality issues
- Conducts residential irrigation surveys
- Reviews plans to plumbing installations for new construction and existing structures
- Consults with engineers, contractors and owners regarding the provisions of the codes, ordinances, laws, design criteria and zoning requirements; searches files to determine water and sewer locations
- Maintains records of inspection activities
- Assists with flow tests
- Performs related work as required
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the plumbing trade
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
- Michigan Journeyman Plumbing license
