Description

Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. An independent organization of creative thinkers and innovative doers collaborating from offices worldwide, our mission is to bring our clients' ideas to life and, in the process, lay the groundwork for a better, more resilient future. We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.

A commitment to challenging our people to grow, coupled with our inherent curiosity, drives Thornton Tomasetti to be a learning organisation and, increasingly, a teaching one. Recognizing that most growth comes through active engagement in on-the-job experiences, proactive independent learning, and relationships, our Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) group focuses on shortening learning curves and helping to create common frameworks across the organization related to four major skillsets: Technical, Management, Winning Work, and Leadership. We often provide resources, structure, additional scaffolding, logistical coordination, and other support to empower TT staff to teach/coach/mentor and learn-from one another. In our work, we emphasize curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of our programs through innovation.

The L&OD Manager will support our staff around the globe in accelerating their growth to more fully reach their potential as well-rounded professionals, with a particular focus in Europe (United Kingdom, Italy, etc.). The person in this role will report to the Director of L&OD and collaborate closely with a wide range of staff around the world including program participants, subject matter experts, program executive sponsors, firm matrix leaders, and other members of the HR team.

What you’ll do

  • Holistically manage learning programs aligned with the firm’s global efforts and vision, including conducting needs assessments, aligning learning objectives with business needs, partnering with subject matter experts, leading team members, and collaborating across stakeholder groups.

  • Lead the design, development, assessment, and continuous improvement of learning collateral across modalities including customizing material for specific audiences, documenting procedures, reviewing others’ work, and serving as a liaison with continuing education accreditation organizations.

  • Deliver exceptional learning experiences through a combination of facilitation, moderation, publication, and train-the-trainer efforts across programs.

  • Manage content, data, and processes in the firm-wide Workday learning management system.

  • Provide logistical, data management and analysis, and administrative support for programs.

  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master’s preferred) in education or a related field.

  • Progressive learning and development experience including instructional design, use of adult learning theories, delivering training, managing learning programs, train-the-trainer efforts, people management, and influencing senior leaders.

  • Significant experience collaborating with people both in the U.K. and internationally, preferably within complex global organizations and professional services contexts.

  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, and change management skills with the ability to balance long-term vision with operational execution.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), collaboration, cultural awareness, emotional intelligence (self-management, relationship management, empathy, influence), adaptability, development of trusting relationships, and professional presence.

  • Proficient at data management/analysis and with Microsoft productivity applications.
