Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Location: Conroe, TX
Summary:
The I&C Engineer supports operational excellence by standardizing and improving measurement, control systems, instrumentation, SCADA, and data acquisition practices across assets. This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and safety, strengthening data integrity, and enabling future remote operation and/or monitoring needs while ensuring reliable data pathways for performance analytics and decision-making.
Job Duties:
SCADA, Controls & Data Systems
- Assess existing SCADA, controls, instrumentation, and measurement practices across assets
- Develop and implement standardized approaches for control systems and fleetwide data acquisition
- Improve accessibility, reliability, and integrity of operational data used by analytics and leadership teams
- Oversee and execute SCADA, instrumentation, and control initiatives across multiple systems and platforms
- Lead gas measurement integrity and reconciliation
- Maintain dashboards, analytics, and predictive decision support
Operational Performance & Optimization
- Identify system inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities to improve facility performance
- Support initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and ease of operation
- Help establish reliable systems to support asset performance management and decision-making
Remote Operations & Integration
- Support development of remote operations and centralized monitoring capabilities
- Identify integration requirements across systems, platforms, and operational technologies
- Contribute to building scalable, future-ready infrastructure for data and controls
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to improve day-to-day performance
- Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, EPC/EPCM partners, and external specialists
- Work cross-functionally with asset performance, reliability, and leadership teams
Job Requirements:
- 7–15 years of experience in SCADA, controls, instrumentation, measurement systems, or industrial automation
- Experience supporting operations environments; owner/operator background preferred
- Hands-on knowledge of SCADA, HMI, PLC, DCS, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Demonstrated ability to improve and optimize existing systems besides design and implement new systems
- Broad technical expertise across vendors and platforms; not limited to a single system or solution
- Understanding of operations technology (OT), networking concepts, telemetry, and remote monitoring (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues proactively and implement practical solutions
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and operational teams
