Our Team
Semtech Corporation is a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for high-end consumer, enterprise computing, communications, and industrial equipment. As our future market opportunities have increased in recent years, we have continued to invest in disruptive analog platforms and have created innovative new solutions for a wide range of leading-edge products.
Semtech's Signal Integrity Products (SIP) team is a world-class organization of innovative engineers who enable the success of our entire semiconductor portfolio through cutting-edge solutions and methodologies.
Job Summary
We are looking for an NPI Analyst to join the SIP Engineering team in Ottawa, Ontario.
SIP is starting to work through a substantial redesign of its New Product Introduction process (NPI) with a goal of simplifying, reducing bureaucracy and thus increasing overall compliance without sacrificing quality. This role supports that transformation and, once the redesign is defined, helps make it work in practice day to day.
You will support the implementation and maintenance of changes to the NPI process on an ongoing basis; help build and run a training framework covering NPI procedures for project leaders and core team members; support the reporting infrastructure required by management to operate the business; and help coordinate between Engineering, Marketing, Product Definition, Operations, Quality, and internal and external audit in the context of the NPI framework. You will support process-related Corrective Action Requests and help drive consistent execution across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Process maintenance support
Maintain the SIP NPI process description and its supporting procedures, forms, templates, and checklists as controlled documents, in partnership with Quality and the process owner.
Support the change-control cycle for the process itself: collect execution feedback, help prioritize and propose changes, help socialize them with affected functions before release, and help communicate them.
Maintain the approval matrix function-to-name mapping.
Support a recurring NPI community forum by coordinating logistics, capturing input, and communicating procedure changes.
Training and enablement
Help build and maintain a training framework for project leaders, functional managers, and core team members covering the gate structure, deliverables, approval routing, exception mechanisms, and the PLM toolset.
Maintain training records against defined role-based competency requirements.
Support onboarding of new project leaders and provide guidance on gate preparation and submission.
Maintain the Product Leader handbook and quick-reference material, keeping them current with each procedure revision.
Records, document control, and audit readiness
Verify template currency and completeness of gate submissions before approval workflows are triggered.
Help develop a procedure to maintain the project-level register for non-gating actions, and confirm closure before project closure.
Support internal audit in preparing the organization for internal and external audits — sample project records ahead of audit cycles, help identify exposures, and track them to closure.
Support process-related CARs from intake through root-cause analysis and corrective action, escalating to process owners and decision makers as required.
Business intelligence and reporting
Help build and maintain reporting that lets management see program status, gate cycle time, documentation completeness, exception and waiver volume, and process health across the portfolio.
Help track process performance metrics and report them on a regular cadence.
Help identify patterns from CARs, audit findings, and lessons learned, and flag them for consideration in process change proposals.
Systems and automation
Help collect engineering requirements for NPI capabilities of the PLM platform and work with platform owners to implement these requirements.
Administer NPI project templates and workflows in the current PLM environment, and support migration of NPI content to the replacement platform.
Help identify and support implementation of automation that reduces manual effort on compliant behaviour.
Cross-functional interface
Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day NPI process questions across Engineering, Marketing, Product Definition, Product and Test Engineering, Characterization, Validation, Applications, Firmware, Operations, and Quality.
Support gate owners with meeting logistics, deliverable collation, minute capture, and approval routing — without assuming ownership of the technical content, which remains with the functional owners.
Help coordinate the pilot and phased rollout of process changes, including in-flight program migration rules.
Qualifications
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates ability in office administration and understanding of project management best practices in an engineering environment.
3-5 years in the semiconductor industry; exposure to IC product development from concept through production release is an asset.
Working knowledge of a phase-gate NPI or product development process.
Experience with PLM and project portfolio management systems (Agile PLM) an asset.
Strong written communication — this role produces procedures, training material, and audit-facing records that must be unambiguous.
Scripting or light automation capability applied to document workflow is an asset.
Working knowledge of version control systems (SVN, Git) in an engineering documentation context is an asset.
