Collinsville Open Cut is Queensland’s oldest existing coal mine, with a long history of producing quality metallurgical and thermal coal for export markets. Located approximately 160 km from Airlie Beach in North Queensland, the operation combines the experience of an established mine with a workforce focused on getting the job done safely and effectively. With a strong connection to the local community and a practical, hands-on approach, Collinsville is a place where people work together, share their experience and look for better ways to do things.

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, you will:

• Follow engineered plans and accurately check the quality and depth of drill holes.
• Record and report strata conditions that may affect blasting and any maintenance faults or issues through providing neat and complete associated documentation for drill reports, pre-starts etc
• Demonstrate a positive attitude towards regular and reliable drill metres, rig utilisation and consumables usage
• Provide safe and efficient operation of heavy earthmoving equipment
• Be comfortable performing the full range of mining tasks in a dynamic and changing environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

About you:

• Previous experience operating blast hole drill rigs in an open-cut mining environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of and strong commitment to risk management and safe work practices.
• Ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Commitment to achieving production targets safely.
