About SLR

SLR is a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions, employing more than 5,000 professionals across six regions. In APAC, our team of 1,200+ specialists work across 24 offices, supporting clients in mining, energy, infrastructure, and the built environment.

Our globally integrated Mining Advisory team brings together experts across geology, mining engineering, metallurgy, geotechnics, civil engineering, environmental science, and finance. We support mining companies, investors, financiers, and governments through every stage of the project lifecycle, from exploration and study phases through to financing, operations, and closure.

About the role

Based in Brisbane or Perth, this role provides financial and commercial advisory expertise across feasibility studies, lender advisory assignments, due diligence reviews, independent technical reviews, and investment decision processes for mining projects. Working closely with mining companies, financiers, investors, and project developers, you’ll help shape major investment and development decisions across the mining sector.

The role requires extensive mining industry experience in finance, commercial, management accounting, project controls, or cost management functions, including experience supporting mining operations and site-based leadership teams. Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, business planning, investment evaluation, and financial modelling are essential.

The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders from operations through to executive management, boards, lenders and investors, while contributing to business development, proposal preparation, and the continued growth of SLR's Mining Advisory business.

Join a globally connected Mining Advisory team and help shape investment, financing, and development decisions on complex mining projects across Australia and internationally.

What you’ll be doing

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advisory & Evaluation: Deliver financial, commercial, and technical assessments across mining studies, lender advisory engagements, due diligence reviews, and investment evaluations.

  • Project Delivery: Lead and contribute to advisory projects, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

  • Client Engagement: Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, clearly communicating complex information across technical, operational, and executive audiences.

  • Reporting & Recommendations: Prepare, review, and present reports and recommendations that support financing, investment approval, and project development decisions.

  • Business Development: Support business growth through client relationship management, proposal development, tender submissions, and identification of new opportunities.

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Mentor consultants and emerging professionals, while contributing to technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the team.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in your application, we are looking for the following:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline, together with CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional accreditation.

  • Mining Industry Experience: Extensive experience in senior finance, commercial, management accounting, project controls, or advisory roles within the mining sector, including experience supporting mining operations, operational leadership teams or major mining projects.

  • Commercial & Financial Expertise: Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, cost management, business planning, investment evaluation and financial modelling.

  • Stakeholder Management Skills: Proven ability to build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels, from site operations through to executive, board, lender, and investor groups.

  • Leadership & Professional Requirements: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring colleagues, and delivering complex advisory, due diligence, studies, or major project engagements, together with unrestricted Australian work rights and a willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
