Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Fabrication Shop Laborer supports daily fabrication operations by maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas; handling and staging materials; loading and unloading deliveries; and preparing fixtures, products, and related components for shipment. This position operates material-handling equipment and works collaboratively across fabrication areas to support efficient production and delivery activities.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm
Pay: $17/hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain clean, organized, and unobstructed shop and work areas.
Sweep floors and empty trash cans, dust-collection containers, and other debris-collection equipment.
Load and unload delivery trucks using a forklift and other appropriate material-handling equipment.
Move and organize materials in indoor and outdoor shop areas.
Crate, palletize, wrap, package, and secure fixtures and related products for shipment.
Assist with staging products and materials for local and out-of-town projects.
Inspect packaging and prepared shipments to help ensure products are protected during transportation.
Follow established safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
Communicate potential safety hazards, damaged materials, and operational concerns to the supervisor.
Support general shop activities and production needs as directed.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Years of experience: Previous experience in a cabinet shop, metal shop, warehouse, fabrication, manufacturing, shipping, or material-handling environment is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Basic knowledge of shop, warehouse, shipping, or material-handling practices.
Ability to safely operate a forklift and other applicable material-handling equipment.
Ability to crate, palletize, wrap, package, and secure products for shipment.
Ability to maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, safety procedures, and established work processes.
Ability to identify and report safety hazards, damaged materials, and equipment concerns.
Strong attention to detail when preparing and handling fixtures and related products.
Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Dependable attendance, punctuality, and commitment to completing assigned work.
Ability to perform physical tasks associated with material handling, packaging, loading, unloading, and shop cleanup.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
No regular travel required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly walks, sits, stands, and lifts up to 50lbs.
Additional Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
