Day to day, you’ll run Digital and Multi-Point Inspections, diagnose routine to intermediate concerns, complete common repairs, verify your work, and team up with Service Advisors, Store Managers, and fellow technicians to deliver accurate, on-time service.

What You’ll Do

• Perform Digital and Multi-Point Inspections independently, documenting findings, measurements, notes, and photos to company standards.
• Diagnose routine to intermediate concerns using scan tools, service information, and basic electrical and mechanical testing.
• Complete common maintenance and mechanical repairs—brakes, steering and suspension, cooling, starting and charging, engine performance, and basic driveability.
• Verify every repair through required checks, including torque, fluid levels, bleed procedures, post-repair validation, and road tests.
• Conduct State Safety and Emission Inspections where applicable, ethically and in line with all company and state guidelines, when properly licensed or under required supervision.
• Recommend needed services and document them clearly in the customer record to support safe, reliable vehicles and a transparent customer experience.
• Communicate findings, parts and tool needs, and job status with Service Advisors, Store Managers, GSTs, and fellow technicians.
• Follow all safety, PPE, and environmental and hazardous-waste procedures; keep customer vehicles, tools, and work areas clean; and report hazards or equipment concerns.
• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed, and support Sun Auto’s core values and company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

The right candidate has hands-on automotive repair experience, takes pride in quality work, communicates clearly, follows safety and documentation standards, and can work independently while collaborating with the store team.

• 2+ years of automotive technician experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training, performing maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment, including scan tools and meters, and computerized systems for documentation and repair information.
• ASE certifications or ability and willingness to obtain certifications appropriate to assigned work; demonstrated competency is required to diagnose and repair independently.
• Experience addressing basic driveability concerns and completing common mechanical repairs.
• Ability to follow repair procedures, torque specifications, safety standards, and company documentation expectations.
• Possess and utilize basic tools required to perform the functions of the role successfully.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.
• State Inspector License, in applicable locations, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire if required by the store.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.

Preferred:

• Technical or vocational school training.
• Additional ASE certifications, alignment experience, and/or state inspection credentials, where applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Automotive shop environment with exposure to moderate to loud noise, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, and caustic materials.
• Temperature variations may include extreme heat and/or extreme cold.
• Ability to stand up to eight hours per day and walk to access various areas of the building.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly, with full range of motion in arms and hands.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and refocus; use of safety goggles or other PPE as required.
• Ability to communicate with customers, service advisors, managers, and shop teammates.
