Dispatcher (Transportation) USAF

Amentum is seeking a Dispatcher (Transportation) USAF to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Dispatcher will be responsible for efficiently organizing and overseeing the dispatch of transportation vehicles and equipment to ensure timely and safe scheduling within required guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide efficient dispatching services for transportation vehicles and equipment to ensure they are dispatched in a timely and organized manner for scheduled and unscheduled assignments.
- Ensure all B-Pool, C-Pool, and rental vehicles are strictly used by U.S. Government personnel and in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Provide dispatch services that meet strict time standards, ensuring vehicles are available within ±15 minutes of the scheduled time during normal working hours and within two hours after normal working hours.
- Supervise or perform vehicle and equipment inspections at check-out and check-in, ensuring that all discrepancies are promptly noted by the operator on the appropriate forms, including:
- NAVFAC Form 11260/4
- NAVFAC Form 9-11240/13
- Operator’s Daily Checklist (ODCL)
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date logs and records of all dispatch activities, including vehicle assignments, usage, and condition reports.
- Monitor vehicle availability and coordinate schedules to ensure proper allocation and efficient fleet utilization.
- Communicate effectively with government personnel and vehicle operators regarding trip details, special requirements, and operational instructions.
- Assist transportation operators in resolving discrepancies related to equipment and vehicle conditions, escalating issues to higher-level personnel if needed.
- Track equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure all vehicles and equipment are in optimal operating condition.
- Enforce safety standards and operating procedures for all transportation services and equipment usage.
- Provide customer-focused service to U.S. Government personnel and support them with their transportation requirements.
- Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in transportation dispatch, vehicle coordination, or similar role within military, government, or industrial settings.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in transportation/logistics are an asset.
- Knowledge of vehicle dispatch systems, scheduling, and inspection procedures including NAVFAC Form 11260/4, NAVFAC Form 9-11240/13, and the Operator’s Daily Checklist (ODCL).
- Familiarity with dispatching processes for government-operated or military transportation pools, including B-Pool, C-Pool, and rental services.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills to coordinate vehicle schedules and meet operational deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with U.S. Government personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in using digital tools such as dispatching systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to last-minute operational requirements.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license.
- Experience supporting U.S. Air Force operations or similar government transportation programs.
- Familiarity with regulations and procedures governing transportation services on military installations.
- Experience managing transportation operations for government or military projects.
- Certification for operating material handling equipment (MHE) or other technical systems for vehicle dispatching.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
