Overview
The Hospice Excellence Leader of Performance provides strategic clinical and operational leadership tohospice branches. This role is responsible for strengthening branch performance, advancing clinical quality, and ensuring consistent execution of operational standards and regulatory requirements. The Leader partners closely with clinical and operational leaders to drive performance improvement, enhance patient care delivery, and support leadership development at the branch level.
This role serves as a key field-based resource, ensuring alignment with enterprise clinical practice standards, quality expectations, and operational goals while supporting scalable, high-performing hospice operations across the region. The Regional Director also serves as a rapid-response clinical and operational resource, deploying targeted support to branches requiring focused intervention, stabilization, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities
Regional Leadership and Clinical Excellence
• Serves as a strategic advisor and mentor to branch leaders, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational standards.• Provides hands-on leadership support for onboarding, coaching, and retention of new and existing clinical leaders.• Establishes consistent expectations for clinical leadership performance, accountability, and execution across assigned branches.• Conducts routine and targeted site visits to evaluate operational and clinical performance, identify risks, and reinforce best practices.• Clinical Leadership Development and Curriculum Oversight• Leads the design, development, and implementation of standardized curriculum to support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing development of hospice clinical leaders.• Establishes structured development pathways for clinical leaders, inclusive of competencyvalidation, mentorship, and progressive skill development.• Partners with Education, Clinical Practice, and Compliance leaders to ensure curriculum reflects current evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and enterprise quality priorities.• Provides direct coaching and mentorship to emerging and tenured leaders, strengthening clinical decision-making, operational execution, and leadership effectiveness.• Evaluates effectiveness of leadership development programs through performance outcomes, quality metrics, and leader readiness, and adjusts programming as needed.
Performance Improvement and Rapid Deployment Support
• Identifies gaps in clinical, operational, and leadership performance through audits, data analysis, and on-site evaluations.• Serves as a deployed resource to underperforming or high-risk branches to conduct comprehensive gap assessments and implement targeted plans of correction.• Develops and executes structured intervention plans in collaboration with regional operational and clinical leadership, with clear timelines, accountability, and measurable outcomes.• Provides short-term intensive support to stabilize operations, improve clinical practice, and strengthen leadership execution.• Partners with Clinical Quality, Compliance, and Operations leaders to ensure sustained improvement and successful transition back to routine oversight.
Clinical Quality and Compliance
• Promotes adherence to evidence-based clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and company policies.• Supports survey readiness and response efforts, including preparation for licensure, accreditation, and regulatory inspections.• Serves as a subject matter expert for compliance, clinical systems, and regulatory updates.• Ensures consistent application of clinical standards, documentation expectations, and quality practices across all branches.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment
• Collaborates with regional and corporate leadership, including Medical Directors and operational leaders, to implement and sustain best practices.• Works cross-functionally to address complex operational and clinical challenges requiring coordinated solutions.• Supports alignment between regional operations and enterprise goals for growth, quality, patient experience, and efficiency.
Education, Training, and Workforce Development
• Identifies ongoing educational needs across branches and ensures delivery of targeted, high-impact training initiatives.• Monitors training compliance and effectiveness to ensure alignment with clinical and operational expectations.• Strengthens leadership bench development through mentorship, coaching, and structured development strategies.
Patient Care and Service Delivery Oversight
• Participates in evaluation of patient care coordination and hospice service delivery across multiple care settings.• Ensures delivery of high-quality, patient- and family-centered care consistent with hospice philosophy and standards.• Supports initiatives that improve patient outcomes, family experience, and publicly reported quality metrics.
Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) with active, unencumbered license required.• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience, with hospice or home health experience strongly preferred.• Demonstrated success improving clinical quality outcomes, leadership performance, and operational execution across multiple sites.• Proven experience in leadership development, education, training, or curriculum design preferred.
