Job Summary
The Swing Driver will safely operate one or more vehicle types including Front End, Roll Off, Rear loader, Boom Truck, and other trucks utilizing various collection methods to service customers in a safe and efficient manner. Deliver collected solid waste or recyclables to landfill, MRF, or transfer station, and fill in for various routes as needed to ensure consistent service.

Requirements:
Licensing: Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License.
Driving Experience: Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR a CDL school certificate.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.
Safety Commitment: Must meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to company standards.
Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely drive the truck, control equipment operations, maneuver into/out of minimum clearance spaces, and use mirrors to back distances of 120 feet or more.
Knowledge & Awareness: Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance requirements; ability to recognize unacceptable waste (such as flammable materials).
Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs repetitively using proper techniques; ability to regularly lift 10 lbs, frequently lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
Physical & Environmental Tolerance: Ability to sit up to 75% of the time, work outdoors up to 100% of the time in varying weather conditions, and tolerate loud noise environments.
Responsibilities:
Safe Fleet Operation: Operate one or more vehicle types with automatic or standard transmissions to collect solid waste, yard waste, and recyclables on varying daily routes.
Safety Inspections: Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections, daily truck reports, route sheets, and requested documentation daily.
Curbside & Special Collection: Perform extra or special pick-ups, handle stop service directives, and develop directions to new accounts.
System Operations & Care: Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
Reporting & Maintenance: Communicate vehicle mechanical problems to mechanics and supervisor immediately, and report all accidents or incidents without delay.
Vehicle Cleanliness: Maintain a clean vehicle by cleaning the interior cab and exterior of the truck.
Regulatory Compliance: Conform with all federal, state/provincial, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Teamwork & Leadership: Manage assigned Helper(s) if applicable, assist with training other Drivers, conduct route observations, and attend safety/branch meetings.
Customer Service: Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times when interacting with customers or the public, and maintain accurate records of services performed.
Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
