Description
- Manage, monitor and conduct Sheriff’s sales, tax collection, property sales and foreclosures, executions and collection of statutory fees.
- Communicate, coordinate and facilitate with plaintiffs regarding all processes assigned to them.
- Serve eviction notices and coordinate the removal of both people and property.
- Obtain and maintain working knowledge of duties.
- Exercise due diligence in research, service and return of all executions, tax warrants and other civil process.
- Collect and document money collected on all writs, warrants and foreclosures.
- Interact in a professional manner with the public, staff, inmates and other government agencies.
- Maintain professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters while providing excellent customer service to the public, staff, inmates and other government agencies.
- Ensure the Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures are followed and the supervising sergeant is advised of any unusual occurrence or concern.
- Maintain ability to testify as a credible witness in court.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all county policies and procedures.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- One year of customer service, collection and/or property management experience.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid South Dakota Driver’s License within 90 days of moving to South Dakota.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards
- This position frequently remains stationary for long periods of time and needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
- Must be able to move up to 20 pounds unassisted, and move 40 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively on telephone, in-person and in writing.
- Ability to see, hear, complete data entry, stand, walk, bend, stoop, run and walk up stairs.
- Work is performed in an office, in a vehicle and outdoors in a field environment, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
- This position may be exposed to hazardous conditions, extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases, air and water borne pathogens, bodily fluids and combative and assaultive suspects and criminals.
