Job Title:	Extrusions Press Operator / Press Driver – Weld Rod Extrusions Operator

Luxfer is looking for an Extrusions Press Operator / Press Driver to support the weld rod extrusion area within the Manchester manufacturing operation. This is a key production role requiring safe, consistent operation of extrusion press equipment, close control of process parameters and accurate completion of production records in line with site procedures and customer quality expectations.

The role will support succession planning and provide increased operational focus in the weld rod area following recent customer complaints and quality issues. The successful candidate must be able to follow instructions exactly, maintain concentration on repetitive and detailed tasks, and complete production documentation accurately and on time.

Experience of working in a manufacturing environment with high quality standards is strongly preferred. Background knowledge of AS9100 or similar aerospace, defence or regulated quality systems would be a significant advantage, as the role requires disciplined process control, traceability and right-first-time completion of records.

Main responsibilities:

• Operate extrusion press equipment and associated plant safely, consistently and in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support weld rod extrusion production, ensuring process steps are completed exactly as instructed and any deviations are escalated immediately.
• Monitor and record key process variables, checking that equipment remains within defined control parameters.
• Complete production records, log sheets and handover information accurately, legibly and in full to support traceability and quality assurance.
• Inspect work, identify potential quality issues and stop or escalate concerns where product, process or documentation standards may be at risk.
• Maintain effective communication with Team Leaders, operators, Quality and other departments to support safe and right-first-time production.
• Take ownership for housekeeping, safe working and timely reporting of hazards, breakdowns or abnormal conditions.

Qualifications/ Education	At least 5 GCSEs - A-C (4-9) or equivalent including Maths, English & Science Level 3 qualification in engineering, science subject or other relevant area.
Experience	Experience in a manufacturing or production environment where strict procedures, quality checks and accurate production records are required. Direct experience working on an extrusion press.	Experience operating press, extrusion or similar heavy manufacturing equipment; experience in AS9100, aerospace, defence or similarly high-quality regulated environments would be a strong advantage.
