General Purpose of Job:
The Student Echo Tech provides limited echocardiology services, under the supervision of a licensed sonographer, to patients within the hospital and complies within the established standards of practice, policies, and clinical guidelines reflective of evidence-based practice. As a Student Echo Tech, you will provide general clerical, equipment and patient care support in patient care units and deliver effective patient care within the framework of Driscoll Health System’s vision of excellence and integrated care delivery.

- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

- Assists with echocardiograms on pediatric patients and adults with congenital heart disease utilizing department specific protocols
- Completes documentation associated with responsibilities in electronic medical record.
- Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. May perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Certificates, licenses:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be enrolled in an accredited echo sonography program, pursuant to Texas licensure
- Completion of the first year/fundamentals of echo sonography, or equivalent, is required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association prior to higher
