Intern - Pro Bono (Year-round)

Summary

The New York office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking for a Pro Bono Intern to support the Pro Bono Team. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers located in 16 offices in six countries. 

 

The Pro Bono Intern will support the Pro Bono team and provide administrative and operational support on pro bono matters. The Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in a law firm environment. We will work around school schedules for interns to be able to work on a part-time, year-round basis. The ideal candidate should have strong computer skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be willing to commit two to three days in office, specifically Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday for a year-long internship. 

 

Responsibilities

• Support the Pro Bono Department with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on pro bono matters

  • Assist with client intake, case file organization, and maintaining case tracking databases

  • Help prepare correspondence and other legal documents

• Provide exceptional administrative and substantive support to pro bono attorneys and staff while maintaining clear and timely communication

• Assist with outreach efforts, event coordination, and partnership initiatives with legal aid organizations and nonprofit partners

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be in the process of completing an undergraduate college degree or similar degree
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to have strong organizational and time management while maintaining a strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build interpersonal relationships
• Previous office experience a plus
• Ability to commit up to two to three days in office, specifically Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday in office, for a yearlong internship.

• Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
• Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
• Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
• Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance
• Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 15lbs

Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $22.00 /Yr.

Pay Range Statement
