Position Summary:
This position maintains and repairs HVAC air distribution equipment, including air handlers, exhaust fans, and controls. Performs electrical testing and system adjustments. Supports preventive maintenance documentation, follows safety and regulatory requirements, maintains tools and equipment, and assists with operational and maintenance activities as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
- Repairs and maintains air handling equipment, exhaust and supply fans and their appurtenant equipment
- Tests electrical circuits and components using electrical test equipment
- Installs, connects and adjusts thermostats, humidistats and other controls
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assembles, positions and mounts heating or cooling equipment following blueprints
- Assists with preventative maintenance records and logbooks
- Ensures compliance with company and departmental safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable HVAC industry regulations
- Keeping tools and equipment clean, organized and in good condition
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
- Must have graduated from HVAC trade/tech school
- Must pass both oral and written technical proficiency test and demonstrate skills necessary to perform job functions
- Must be able to read and work from blueprints
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with running building management systems
Training Requirements:
- Working knowledge of HVAC including the concepts of voltage, current and power and the properties and uses of electrical components
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety requirements of the trade
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the HVAC trade
- OSHA Lockout/Tag out procedures
- Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure training
- Respirator training and fit tested
- Man lift training, (scissor and boom lift)
- Forklift training
- Confined space training
- Fall protection
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment as well as various weather conditions including extreme hot and cold
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and climb a ladder
- Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
