Job Title –  AGM /  DGM - Manufacturing (Car & Door Factory) - ISU

Job Location – Pillaipakkam, Sriperumbudur Factory (near Chennai, India)

Reports to – Manufacturing Director / Plant Head

Purpose of the Role

The AGM/DGM Manufacturing is responsible for leading manufacturing operations of Car & Door factory to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production. The role drives operational excellence through effective production management, resource optimization, people development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The incumbent ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while supporting business growth, customer satisfaction, and factory performance objectives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree in Production management, Operations Management, or Business Administration preferred.


Experience

  • Minimum 20 to 25 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, or factory management.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing production teams and manufacturing functions.
  • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and Productivity Improvement.
  • Strong exposure to production planning, capacity management, quality systems, and cost management.
  • Experience working in a multinational manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving change initiatives.

Typical Span of Control: 200-250 employees (direct and indirect)

Grade Recommendation:

  • AGM Manufacturing: 18 to 20 years’ experience, managing a major production area or multiple manufacturing functions.
  • DGM Manufacturing: Minimum 21 years’ experience, overall responsibility for end-to-end factory operations or a large manufacturing unit.


What will you be doing?

Manufacturing Operations

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve production targets related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Productivity (SQCDP).
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and factory resources.
  • Drive adherence to production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), throughput, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support new product introduction, engineering changes, and product lifecycle management activities.
     

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Lead risk assessment activities and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with KONE policies, statutory regulations, and industry standards.
  • Drive quality excellence through robust quality management systems and continuous reduction of defects, rework, and customer complaints.
     

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM, and value stream improvement initiatives.
  • Implement productivity improvement projects to enhance operational performance and reduce costs.
  • Drive digitalization and automation initiatives to improve manufacturing effectiveness.
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks and waste across manufacturing processes.
     

Capacity Planning & Resource Management

  • Ensure effective production planning and capacity management to meet business demand.
  • Collaborate with Material Management, Manufacturing engineering, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams to optimize end-to-end value streams.
  • Support investment planning and capital expenditure projects for factory expansion and modernization.
     

Financial & Cost Management

  • Manage manufacturing budgets and achieve cost competitiveness targets.
  • Drive material yield improvement, labor productivity enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor factory KPIs and implement corrective actions to ensure financial targets are achieved.
     

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production managers, engineers, supervisors, and shop floor teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, and competency development programs.
  • Promote employee engagement and a high-performance work culture.
     

Strategy Deployment & Transformation

  • Translate manufacturing strategy into actionable factory-level plans.
  • Support implementation of sustainability initiatives, operational transformation programs, and business excellence projects.
  • Drive change management and ensure successful adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies.
