Job Title: Technical Lead
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join our team in managing corporate office facilities and critical space infrastructure. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your primary objective will be ensuring all technical and operational activities strictly comply with local statutory regulations, occupational safety standards, and client-stipulated engineering playbooks.
You will lead technical teams and vendor partners to maintain M&E / building systems, execute day-to-day workplace technical requirements, enforce SLAs, and lead engineering improvement and sustainability initiatives. You will work closely with internal Workplace teams, cross-functional partners (e.g., Security, Dining Services), and Landlords/Building Management Organizations (BMO) to deliver high-quality, consistent service to building occupants and guests.
What this job involves
- M&E Systems Management: Responsible for all engineering and maintenance work within managed facilities, leading the vendors to carry out daily operations and regular preventive/corrective maintenance of M&E/MEP systems, including but not limited to, HVAC, Fire Protection, Electrical systems, and BMS.
- Vendor & Contract Governance: Own and manage technical service contracts, perform technical audits, evaluate tenders, formulate contracts, and inspect service delivery to ensure critical works vendors maintain equipment to high standards and meet SLAs.
- Site Supervision & Logbooks: Inspect the working condition of equipment and engineering systems regularly, review daily logbooks, take swift corrective measures, and keep the Site Lead and Regional Engineering Manager informed of all engineering activities and incidents.
- Operational Leadership: Lead site technical responsibilities and serve as the official operational backup for the Site Lead during their absence.
- Procurement & Goods Quality: Oversee the procurement process for engineering goods/supplies, verify the quality of procured materials, and maintain accurate inventory history records.
- Procedures & Standards: Establish, update, and implement Engineering & Operational procedures (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs) and safety work practices to improve system reliability, simplify work methods, and standardise site operations.
- Risk & Emergency Incident Management: Implement pre-emptive maintenance programs to mitigate risks of sudden critical equipment failure, ensure emergency/crisis procedures are maintained, and provide 24/7 on-call emergency support for facilities, server rooms, and Colocation Data Centres.
- Major Works & Power Downs: Organize and manage power-down events, ad-hoc MEP service suspensions, and major refurbishment/new project initiatives using structured change management processes.
- Minor Project FM Works: Process and execute programmed 'Minor Project FM Works' from initiation to completion per the annual schedule, coordinating closely with the PMO, Building Managers, and Business Units.
- Energy Management & Sustainability: Monitor and record utility consumption, assist in managing engineering budgets, and execute energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs and support corporate sustainability goals.
- Landlord & Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary technical point of contact with Landlords/BMOs for site operational issues and ensure alignment with the client’s interests.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain up-to-date as-built drawings, OEM manuals, and maintenance logs; prepare monthly FM reports, submit technical reporting, and manage the timely closing of work orders.
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: University degree or Diploma in Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent related field. Preference for an A4 chargeman with a valid ST certificate.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical working experience in Facilities Management and a technical management role. Direct experience in Data Centre (DC) FM management and HVAC systems is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven knowledge and hands-on understanding of HVAC, Fire Protection Systems, Electrical Systems, and BMS/computerized control and monitoring systems.
- Certifications: Holder of PW4, or equivalent technical/electrical registration is preferable.
- Safety & Compliance: Thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety requirements, Risk & Safety work practices, and Crisis Management protocols.
- Software & PC Literacy: Good PC literacy with proficiency in software tools including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience in MS Project is an added advantage.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills in English (additional local language capabilities are advantageous).
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and people-management skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal stakeholders, corporate clients, landlords, and external contractors.
- Problem Solving & Adaptability: Ability to think laterally, deliver innovative technical solutions, and manage changing operational priorities.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work out-of-hours/weekends for incident response and project works, and ability to travel is required.
