Nestled nearly two miles out on the Cheat Mountain Ridge Trail sits the Sunrise Backcountry Hut. Beneath towering Spruce, the Hut offers a great dining alternative for those looking to 'get away from it all. Experience in cooking isn’t required but will help when it comes to this job, being able to work alone and handle a cabin in variable weather conditions is a must.
Job Responsibilities:
Stock inventory and pick up supplies
Pre-preparing food for dinner service (chopping, cutting, mixing or prepping sauces)
Cook menu items in collaboration with the rest of the Backcountry Hut team.
Ensure kitchen and dining area are kept clean
Ensure menu items come out equally in high quality and timely fashion.
Practice nutrition and sanitation requirements by proper food handling and storage.
Precisely and consistently deliver on guest food orders by following recipes and instructions.
Prepare plate menu items, as ordered, per specifications. Strict attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
Safely prepare food by using knives, ovens, outdoor grills and other cooking instruments.
Prepare and stock ingredients for other meals, set up as per posted instructions. Prepare recipes per standardized recipes and production sheets.
Other tasks as assigned by Backcountry Hut Manager or Hutmaster III
Transport food, linens, alcohol and drinks in variable trail conditions.
Perform basic hut maintenance (checking propane levels, and tanks, hauling water to inground tank, shoveling snow and clearing walkways)
Conduct general maintenance of UTV and generator
Filling out inspection logs for equipment.
Filling out weekly high rotation inventory logs.
Work tasks are divided between indoors and outdoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled inside. Weather conditions will vary outside.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Driving:
Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program
Preferred Experience:
Cooking experience
Knowledge of safety practices, CPR/first aid certification
Familiarity with local geography, trails, and conservation principles.
May require lifting and moving up to 75 pounds.
