Designed in harmony with the island’s natural landscape and cultural heritage, the resort will feature guest rooms, private villas, residences, and a beach club, all connected through walkable gardens and open spaces. With a focus on thoughtful design, connection to nature, and the signature service that defines Four Seasons, the resort will offer both guests and team members the opportunity to be part of something truly special in one of Japan’s most unique destinations.

About the role

The Spa & Wellness Director is a visionary leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the spa and wellness facilities, ensuring exceptional guest experience, and driving revenue growth. This leadership role demands a strategic thinker with a passion for wellness, a keen eye for detail, the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team, and the creativity to innovate and be an industry leader.

What you will do

• Lead and oversee all Spa and wellness operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, service excellence, team engagement and financial performance.
• Develop and manage budgets, financial outcomes, inventory, and procurement to achieve business objectives and operational efficiency.
• Drive revenue and profitability through developing and creating pricing strategies, spa initiatives and promotions, retail sales, and wellness programming.
• Lead, develop and motivate Spa and wellness team members through effective training, coaching, mentoring, performance management and career development initiatives.
• Recruit, motivate, and retain talented team members while fostering a high-performing, engaged, and service-oriented culture.
• Ensure the delivery of personalized and innovative wellness experiences through continuous evaluation of treatments, products, services, and operational standards.
• Maintain the quality standards, safety procedures and regulatory compliance across all Spa and Fitness areas.
• Collaborate with the Commercial, Sales and Revenue Management team to promote Spa offerings and support the department's objectives.
• Monitor industry trends and implement innovative strategies to support business growth and competitive positioning.

What you bring

• Proven leadership experience within a luxury hotel, resort or destination spa setting with a minimum of 5 years management experience.
• Demonstrates a superior knowledge of spa, wellness, and holistic modalities. Previous experience preferred as massage therapist, aesthetician or similar experience.
• Strong ability to lead, coach and develop diverse teams while creating a positive and engaging work environment.
• Thorough understanding of 5-star service standards, effective application of spa staffing models with proven ability to create and implement spa service menus, additional revenue streams, effective retail management, dynamic pricing and marketing strategies and demonstrated ability to project costs, revenue and adhere to budgets.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments.
• Passion for health and wellness with extensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, wellness programming and products locally and globally.
• Proven pre-opening experience in a luxury spa setting with the ability to successfully plan, develop and launch spa operations.
• Fluency in English is essential; ability to speak and understand Japanese is an advantage.
