THIS POSTING REPRESENTS A TEMPORARY AIDE POSITION THAT MAY NOT EXCEED 9 MONTHS FROM THE HIRE DATE

THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 5:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2026.

This position will have remote and hybrid workplace options available but will still be required to report to the listed address at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need.

As a temporary employee of the state personnel system, you are employed at will and are not eligible for the same benefits as permanent employees, such as health insurance and annual leave. However, temporary employees are eligible for sick leave and retirement benefits.

The salary range for this position is: 
$32.31 - $34.91 Hourly 
$2,585.08 - $2,792.80 Biweekly
$5,601.00 - $6,051.07 Monthly 

The Enforcement Unit (EU) exists to receive, identify, and investigate reports of fraud and fraudulent activity within the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Division, including handling incoming referrals and tips regarding allegations of FAMLI program-related fraud.  The Fraud Early Warning (FEW) Team conducts investigations of Premiums-related cases referred to the EU, and identifies and refers cases requiring further investigation to the Fraud Investigations Team (FIT).  Case screening is conducted to assess and complete referrals to the appropriate work unit or for transfer to an external work unit outside of the ACE branch.  (i.e. alternate FAMLI unit/branch, etc.)  Additionally, this work unit, as required, provides investigative and logistical assistance both within the Enforcement Unit, within other branches and units of FAMLI, as well as to local, state, and federal agencies, and provides a base of specialized expertise upon which other law enforcement and regulatory agencies may draw.  

This temporary position, exists to augment current staffing with the investigation of Premiums System-related fraudulent activity by screening, identifying, and documenting criminal and regulatory violations and trends affecting the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program within the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment (CDLE).

Duties primarily consist of regulatory and criminal investigation of Premiums-related case investigations resulting from tips, reports, and referrals of FAMLI-related fraudulent activity both from within and external to the FAMLI program.  The position conducts initial assessments of investigations related to fraud/forgery, waste, abuse, and other misconduct within the program.  Work includes identifying whether fraudulent circumstances exist within referred case investigations by reviewing and assessing information used to create accounts with the FAMLI program in relation to information identified through the use of various systems, databases, and open-source information. Work assignments and investigations should be conducted by the investigator with limited input or guidance for basic functions; however, functions, case investigations, and assessments requiring higher level processes or experience can and should involve guidance, mentoring, assessment, and review from a higher level investigator, work lead, or supervisor within the work unit.

Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to five (5) years.
