Role Overview
This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining clinical and health economic data systems, ensuring high-quality data integration, validation, reporting, and compliance across study and enterprise platforms.
The position partners with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, automate processes, and deliver actionable insights through advanced analytics and reporting.
The role also drives continuous improvement, supports governance and release management activities, ensures audit readiness, and mentors team members to enable efficient, high-quality delivery.
What you would do:
- Build, integrate, and maintain clinical databases and study systems, including transformations, edit checks, reporting, and user testing, while supporting governance of cross‑study programming environments.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Health Economic Modeling systems using programming and automation frameworks.
- Implement and validate complex data logic such as logical, derivations, and dynamic rules.
- Propose and develop tools to streamline design, build, and validation workflows.
- Apply data literacy to convert collected data into actionable insights.
- Develop advanced reporting solutions, including dashboards and visual analytics, using enterprise platforms.
- Configure, test, and validate data sources for integrations and transformations across systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical and system requirements.
- Coordinates with external vendors, Information Technology (IT), and the other supporting functions to validate external data transfers into our company's data management system in accordance with detailed transfer specifications
- Troubleshoot routine data ingestion and consumption issues, escalating non‑standard problems appropriately.
- Develop robust data models, semantic layers, and curated datasets while monitoring pipelines and enforcing quality checks.
- Validate system functionality and ensure adherence to SOPs, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Identify process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation for changes, incidents, and system updates.
- Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to onboarding and knowledge sharing.
- Support release management activities, including change control and risk assessment.
- Lead UAT activities, translate requirements into technical specifications, and refine reporting standards.
- Communicate data and technical findings clearly and partner across teams to enable coordinated, high‑quality delivery.
What you should have :
Education
- B.A. or B.S. degree from Computer Science or Information Systems, healthcare‑related disciplines, or those with relevant skills and experience may also be considered.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in database configuring, data engineering or data management operations, and 1+ years of specific experience in Health Economic Modeling and upstream/downstream clinical data model configuring
Knowledge and Skills:
- At least 5 years’ experience in data management, medical research, or database design and development. In-life data management experience is required.
- An overall working knowledge of the clinical development process.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (SQL, Python, SAS, R) for implementing data collectors, integrations, transformations, and reporting.
- Knowledge of database structures and available tools to manage, extract, and report data is preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate with both the technical and business areas and external vendors.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with different functional areas.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently under pressure, and adapt to changing environments.
- Strong sense of urgency and customer focus.
- Desire and ability to learn new processes and technologies.
- Knowledge of SDLC and validation practices, including change control, release checklists, and traceability.
- Understanding of GCP, data integrity, audit‑ready documentation, and UAT/sign‑off procedures.
- Understanding of drug discovery process, FDA regulations, GxP guidelines, ICH guidelines, clinical database cleaning process, and 21 CFR Part 11.
