Job Summary
Responsible for performing diagnostic tests to monitor the electrical activity of a patient's heart.-Prepare patients for the ECG test by explaining the procedure and answering any questions they may have.
-Attach electrodes to the patient's chest and limbs to monitor their heart activity during the test.
-Operate ECG equipment and monitoring the patient's heart activity during the test.
-Record and analyze the results of the test for the physician or cardiologist.
-Identify and correct any issues that may arise during the ECG test.
-Clean and maintain ECG equipment and ensuring that it is in proper working condition.
-Maintain accurate and detailed records of each patient's ECG test results.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience
- Completion of an ECG technician training program or equivalent work experience. 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart and cardiovascular system.
- Knowledge of ECG equipment and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and computer systems used for medical record keeping.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
