In this position...
The Staff Electrical System Architecture Engineer will be responsible for overall electrical system performance and reliability. The successful candidate will lead trade studies associated with various system architecture proposals to help make a cross functional decision on the most suitable system architecture considering system requirements, program deliverables, available resources, and other constraints.
The staff electrical system architecture engineer will play a leading role for root causing system issues through modeling, reviewing test results, and performing other relevant studies. In this role, you will be working side by side various cross functional teams including but not limited to HV system, LV system, subsystem HW design, application SW, and system functional safety team to provide innovative solutions for improving system performance and reliability.
What you'll do...
- Conceptualize, design, engineer, develop, and support the launch of next-generation electrical system architectures for electric vehicles
- Perform electrical system architecture trade studies to realize efficient system architecture strategies and optimize for cost
- Map out overall power generation, distribution, and load management to ensure low voltage electrical system’s stability and reliability
- Lead required low voltage system architectural changes to improve system performance
- Review system interface requirements and device transmittals to propose new electrical system architectures
- Perform thorough power budget analysis to ensure positive margin under worst case conditions and validate low voltage bus stability
- Design and validate advanced load shedding strategies to guarantee low voltage bus stability
- Perform Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) using advanced analytical tools such as MATHCAD to characterize system performances such as load input voltage, power conversion efficiency, etc.
- Review ECU / zonal architecture design and propose changes to improve system performance
- Evaluate the impact of low voltage subsystem (HW & SW) design changes on overall system performance through simulation and bench testing
- Perform critical design review for low voltage electrical systems and propose design changes to improve system performance including efficiency and safety
- Characterize low voltage electrical system’s steady state and transient performance through high fidelity electrical system modeling
- Use analytical tools to perform failure mode and effect analyses and ensure system meets the required fault tolerance based on system safety goals
- Work closely with low voltage system validation engineers to model and characterize system performance under corner cases
- Provide technical leadership to cross functional teams developing advanced low voltage electrical system architecture
- Go to expert to diagnose and resolve electrical system issues
