Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and support cloud-based digital products and services for citizen- and officer-facing applications.
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines to support reliable application delivery.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or OpenTofu.
- Design, implement, and enhance CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitLab, to enable automated and reliable software delivery.
- Deploy, manage, and support containerised applications using Docker, AWS ECS, Kubernetes, and/or Amazon EKS.
- Implement deployment automation and engineering practices that improve release efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
- Design and manage cloud networking components to support secure and highly available applications and services.
- Establish and maintain observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting practices across cloud and production environments.
- Support production operations, including troubleshooting, incident response, performance optimisation, and service recovery.
- Implement security controls covering authentication, authorisation, encryption, audit logging, and secure system configuration.
- Ensure infrastructure and platform services comply with applicable security, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Support the integration of systems across government agencies and external partners.
- Contribute to the modernisation of existing Java-based and platform applications through cloud-native and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with development, security, and infrastructure teams to improve automated testing, engineering quality, and operational resilience.
- Build reusable platform and engineering capabilities that can be adopted across multiple teams within the organisation.
- Support the delivery of reliable, scalable, secure, and highly available production systems.
Relevant Technical Experience:
- AWS and cloud infrastructure
- Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) exposure
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform or OpenTofu
- CI/CD and deployment pipelines, particularly GitLab
- Docker and containerisation
- AWS ECS and/or Kubernetes / Amazon EKS
- Deployment automation
- Cloud networking
- Observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Production operations and incident response
- Authentication, authorisation, encryption, and audit logging
- Cloud security controls and compliance requirements
- High availability, scalability, and production reliability
