GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily functional operations and the fiscal wellness of OceanView’s Legacy Memory Care, with the overall goal of maintaining the highest level of customer service, resident care and safety standards, and resident and employee satisfaction through collaboration with all departments.
The Program Manager is responsible for development and implementation of person-centered programing designed around an individual’s specific interests providing a high level of resident and family satisfaction.
Areas of responsibility for this position include Financial Oversight, Resident Care, Activities Programming, Human Resources, Staff Development, Marketing, Facilities Management and Administration. This position is a role model to staff and co-leaders, and consistently inspires behaviors that exemplify Company values and ensures that Exceptional Customer Service is provided to all internal and external customers.
Generally, the Program Manager works normal business hours and is expected to consistently meet the schedule coverage expectation of an 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday schedule. Flexibility in schedule is necessary from time to time in order to meet the needs of the Company, residents and staff when occasional evening, night and weekend work is required.
Duties include and are not limited to:
· Maintaining the highest possible standards for nursing practice and quality of care through coordination and collaboration with nursing staff. Overseeing the development, assessment, evaluation, and implementation of individual resident care plans with participation of individual resident and/or family, while ensuring compliance with national, state and local regulatory requirements
· Maximizing Legacy Memory Care’s occupancy levels by participating in promotional marketing events, handling walk-ins and prospect appointments, and coordinating the evaluation of new residents with the Director of Assisted Living.
· Preparing and analyzing adherence to annual Legacy Memory Care budget. Wisely balancing expenditures with potential for new income and growth; ensuring that departments function within budgetary limitations, and justifies budgetary variances; ensuring care levels are accurate to maximize revenue
· Closely monitoring and contributing to the visual appeal and longevity of the physical plant (buildings) and surroundings and by working with all departments to manage facility maintenance.
· Communicating with the Director of Operations and the property owner in a positive, productive manner by providing factual thorough, timely and insightful information; understanding goals and objectives and playing a reliable and trustworthy role in achieving them
· Looking at issues from a big picture perspective; to be able to see the larger needs, beyond those of one department or site, and putting the interests of the whole above self-interests
· Taking on special projects eagerly as requested by owner and Director of Operations, compiling resources and collaborating with co-workers, in order to overcome challenges and meet objectives
· Delegating to supervisors the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to perform their assigned duties
· Overseeing coordination of the staff schedule for all shifts ensuring that each shift is adequately staffed (uses agency staff, if required); assisting direct care staff in prioritizing and managing workloads daily or in the event of staff shortage; providing direct care as required
· Assuring that the staff/department has the necessary tools/supplies in order to accomplish their tasks timely, and with excellence
· Providing opportunity for, and encouraging leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principals essential to develop skills required for oversight of staff
· Developing, implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program to orient new employees and overseeing continued training of staff to company policies and procedures, job position and duties, and regulatory compliance
· Facilitating ongoing professional development for staff and self through timely in-service training classes, or attending outside education and training programs or conferences, and assures all state mandated trainings are conducted and completed by staff with accurate records kept
· Coaching, counseling, praising staff accordingly along with other necessary performance related feedback such as disciplinary action
· Conducting annual performance evaluations of direct reports collaborating with Resident Care Coordinator
· Writing articles for the quarterly newsletter
· Participating in recruitment of new employees; conducting interviews and facilitating hiring process following Human Resources protocol
· Covering charge/supervisorial positions as needed to ensure safe staffing levels
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or property owner
Requirements
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years of experience in geriatrics dementia care and two years of management experience. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements of governing assisted living facilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Experience exercising good judgment in a variety of challenging circumstances is also required.
EDUCATION
RN, or Bachelor of Science Degree, Bachelor of Arts Degree or Master’s Degree in health-related field is required.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Current Maine nursing license if an RN, or current CRMA certification required. Current CPR certification or willingness to become certified within one month of hire. Valid Maine driver’s license.
