The Electrical Inspector is responsible for inspecting and reporting from the rough-in installation phase to start up and commissioning and ensures all contract documents are properly executed by the contractors. Establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with engineers, testing labs, contractors, subcontractors, and the owners is essential to this role.



Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide full-time resident inspection services for electrical/instrumentation & controls construction activities for the duration of the project. 
  • Prepare comprehensive daily reports of all construction activities including working conditions, personnel, visitors, equipment and deliverables. 
  • Provide daily site photos, date and time-stamped, documenting construction progress. 
  • Review all work and materials for conformance with the contract documents, NFPA 70, NEC, Georgia standards and permitting agencies. 
  • Provide notification of nonconforming work to the Construction Manager (CM). 
  • Notify the CM of requested scheduling of testing activities to be conducted by the Contractor. 
  • Provide copies of all testing reports to CM for review and processing. 
  • Assist CM with monthly updates of documented field as-built conditions/redlines. 
  • Adhere to and enforce project specific health and safety protocols.
  • Field verify the proper operation of all electrical equipment, components, and networked controls.
  • Witness performance testing of all electrical equipment, components, and networked controls.
  • Certify that the mechanical and electrical facilities are fully operational during startup and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with the client’s staff, contractors, subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers/suppliers. 
  • Perform related work as required


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required. 


EXPERIENCE:

  • 10-15 years’ experience as an inspector, technician or contractor with installation of electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems within the water/wastewater industry.


LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Must obtain any / all certifications within 6 months of hire.

  • ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector (E2) Certification


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to eight hours or more at a time
  • Required to walk in rugged conditions
  • Work in adverse weather conditions
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Frequently works in outside weather conditions
