Your Role & Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Act as a technical contact for the region on topics and blends unique for South Gate.
Acts as main contact during customer audits for South Gate laboratory.
Participates in weekly Blend Team meetings and conducts formulation trials as part of the Blend Team.
Manages QC/QA documentation for South Gate locations.
Manages preventive maintenance and repair of lab equipment.
Manages sending multiple products for testing to get certified on a quarterly/annual basis.
Perform quality control tests required on incoming raw materials and on finished goods, including adjusting batches as required.
Perform quality control tests on finished goods, including adjusting batches as required for Brenntag Pacific.
Prepare or obtain Certificates of Analysis or quality documents as required by Brenntag Pacific and Brenntag Pacific’s customers and scan into BUS system at the time of the product is tested.
Prepare standard reagent solutions as required by the test methods.
Prepare indicators, testing solutions, fill reagent bottles, fill titrimetric equipment, and keep all lab equipment in good working order.
Standardize pH meters, densitometer, viscometer, and refractometers as recommended by the manufacturer of Brenntag policy.
Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory, dye room, retained sample room and surrounding areas. Clean up the work area at the end of every shift or personnel change.
Provide dye/dye solution to plant for production.
Test Hazardous Wastes and returned goods as requested by Technical Director.
Maintain appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Dispose of and/or retain samples on a regular basis following required regulations.
Observe, follow, and enforce all Brenntag Pacific Policies and Procedures.
Attend all required training when scheduled unless absent from work.
Represent Brenntag Pacific in a professional manner.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Ability to operate the following laboratory equipment: Balances, Gas Chromatograph, Autotitrator, ICP, Refractometer, Density meter, Karl-Fisher moisture tester, Infrared Spectrophotometer, laboratory mixers, Aqua Color tester (Orbeco-Hellige), pH meter (Accumet Basic), Burettes, Pipets and other glassware to perform wet chemistry analyses, portable data logging spectrophotometer.
Union facility starting at $30.10 per hour.

Qualifications:
Possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet time-sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Possess proficient skill level of Microsoft Office.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, including upper management.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree preferred or equivalent experience
3 plus years of laboratory experience preferred
Chemical distribution experience desired
Employment is contingent upon completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
