The primary purpose of this position is to help support the Maintenance Programs Team within the State Maintenance Operations Unit. Assist with the supervision of the multiple positions that manage statewide coordination programs including but not limited to Inmate Labor, Motor Fleet Management, and State Parks Coordination and the implementation of those programs, and any additional maintenance operations projects assigned by the State Maintenance Operations Engineer or State Maintenance Engineer. Assist with supporting Disaster Recovery actions as necessary, which includes the deployment of ArcGIS‑based tools and web resources to aid program delivery. Assist with supporting maintenance training and development efforts within State Maintenance Operations that support field divisions and the supervision of the personnel assigned to these duties.
Assist with the overseeing of personnel and team members responsible for identifying, planning, developing and implementing technical training. Training delivery may consist of classroom setting, self-study courses, on-line training, individual tailored conferences and technical meetings. Assist with the oversight and management of the Transportation Worker Training Plan. Assist with the coordination with NCDOT Human Resources to administer the program in the Learning Management System (LMS). Assist with providing proper oversight of all contract training implemented by Maintenance Operations and Fleet Management. This includes training conducted by ITRE, the National Highway Institute, private engineering firms and associations.

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC20/$70,478-$123,336

- Knowledge and understanding of concepts, practices, and theories used in the engineering specialty area and the ability to use it in practice.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex or broad variety/scope of programs/projects for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles and design needs and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups to accomplish organization goals and to identify and resolve problems.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS products and an understanding of how to develop solutions to provide support for project development and delivery needs.
- Experience managing, evaluating and assessing large sets of data.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
