Description
The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant supports loan officers in the end-to-end mortgage loan process—from pre-qualification through closing. This role ensures timely and accurate handling of loan documentation, client communication, and system updates, contributing to a seamless borrower experience and efficient loan pipeline management.
Key Responsibilities:
Loan Processing Support
· Assemble and verify loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
· Order and track third-party items (e.g., VOEs, appraisals, title work).
· Calculate income using pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns, and other documentation.
· Confirm assets and liabilities against application and supporting documents.
· Monitor credit activity using tools like Undisclosed Debt Monitor.
· Assist with obtaining documentation needed to obtain a clear to close.
Client & Team Communication
· Serve as a liaison between loan officers, borrowers, settlement agents, and internal departments.
· Conduct weekly pipeline calls with assigned MLOs.
· Provide timely updates to clients and referral partners.
Compliance & Documentation
· Send initial disclosures to loan applicants.
· Review Loan Estimates (LE) and Closing Disclosures (CD).
· Ensure compliance with TRID, TIL, and Change of Circumstance regulations.
System & Administrative Tasks
· Maintain accurate records in Encompass and other mortgage systems.
· Run AUS findings (DO and LP) and ensure documentation matches system inputs.
· Coordinate closings.
· Perform general administrative duties.
Requirements
· Minimum 2 years experience in mortgage loan processing or assistance. At least 8 years preferred.
· Proficiency in Encompass, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and loan origination systems.
· Strong understanding of conventional and government loan products (FHA/VA).
· Knowledge of investor guidelines and mortgage compliance regulations.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage a pipeline of 40+ loans independently and collaboratively.
· Must be in the Savannah, GA area and willing to work on-site Monday-Friday 9a-5p.
Preferred Skills
· NMLS license or willingness to obtain.
· Experience with CRM systems and document management platforms.
· Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and closing procedures.
