A Different Kind of Housekeeping Role

The Poppy Georgetown isn’t your typical hotel, and this isn’t your typical housekeeping position.

Located in the heart of historic Georgetown, The Poppy is an intimate, 15-room boutique guesthouse where thoughtful details, genuine hospitality, and a beautifully maintained environment are all part of the guest experience.

Because we are a small property, our team works a little differently than you might find at a larger hotel. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in creating clean, welcoming spaces but is also flexible, hands-on, and willing to jump in wherever needed.

On a busy day, you may be responsible for cleaning multiple guestrooms, or potentially all 15 rooms depending on occupancy and departures. On a lighter day, you may have fewer rooms and spend more of your time helping maintain our common areas, gardens, parlor, guest amenities, or assisting with other tasks around the property.

If you like variety, enjoy staying busy, and don’t believe in saying “that’s not my job,” you may be a great fit for The Poppy.

What You'll Do

As a Housekeeper / Guesthouse Attendant, you’ll help us create the warm, polished and welcoming experience The Poppy is known for. Responsibilities may include:

• Thoroughly clean and prepare guestrooms, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing bathrooms.
• Replace linens and towels and ensure each room is beautifully presented and ready for our next guest.
• Clean and maintain common areas throughout the guesthouse, including the parlor and other shared guest spaces.
• Help maintain our outdoor areas and gardens so they remain clean, organized and inviting.
• Restock guest amenities, linens, housekeeping supplies and other property items as needed.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns, damages or items needing attention.
• Assist guests in a friendly and professional manner when approached.
• Support breakfast, guest amenities, property organization or other operational needs when housekeeping demands are lighter.
• Work collaboratively with the rest of our small team to make sure the entire property, not just the guestrooms, is ready for our guests.
• Pitch in with other reasonable duties as needed based on occupancy and the needs of the guesthouse.

• Comfortable working independently without needing constant direction.
• Flexible and willing to move between different responsibilities throughout the day.
• Friendly and comfortable interacting with guests.
• Able to prioritize and adjust as occupancy and operational needs change.
• A team player who understands that at a small boutique property, everyone helps where needed.
• Able to work weekends and holidays based on business needs.

Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred, but just as important to us is finding someone with the right attitude, work ethic and commitment to hospitality.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop and kneel; climb stairs throughout the guesthouse; push and pull housekeeping equipment; perform repetitive cleaning tasks; and lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
