Job summary
Primary purpose of this position is to provide telephonic education to patients and/or caregiver following the clinical protocols and working within the nursing scope of practice and guidelines.
This is a work from home position.
Essential duties
- Perform clinical telephonic assessments, provide disease, drug specific education to the patient and/or caregiver using the provided clinical program templates, and approved resources.
- Responsible for gathering data, documenting the assessment for all clinical interventions according to the clinical program guidelines.
- Follow internal processes on how to identify, notify and how to manage an adverse event, in accordance of the nurse’s scope of practice. The nurse is required to meet all FDA and pharmaceutical guidelines.
- When clinically necessary, follow internal protocols to contact the patient’s treating physician to inform him/her of any previously unreported new disease state specific symptom(s), medication adherence issues and any other health related matters that identified during the clinical assessment.
- Assist the Clinical Department with new hire training, precepting and peer-to-peer documentation review, when required.
- Support department projects as required.
- Responsible for good housekeeping techniques, adhering to quality and production standards.
- Comply with all applicable company, state, federal safety, and environmental programs and procedures.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited state approved school of nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) license (in good standing)
- Three years of clinical experience as an RN.
- The RN must have an active unencumbered license in the state that they reside and should have completed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) or a recognized state board exam. The RN will be required to be eligible to apply for or have a compact license as well as the ability, with no restrictions, to apply for additional single state licenses.
Computer or other skills
- Proficient in using micro soft applications.
- Efficient computer skills with the ability to multitask between various applications.
- Diverse clinical background with varied knowledge and experience in some of the following areas; Neurology / Multiple sclerosis, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Asthma, Oncology, or Pediatrics.
- Excellent phone etiquette.
About the department
Clinical Operations department provides both proactive and reactive telephonic educational to patients and/or their caregiver. Our goal is to provide the patient with the tools, resources, motivation and skills to be successful with their therapy. If a challenge should arise, the nurse is there to support and guide them by engaging other clinicians such as social workers, dietician or pharmacist.
