The Manager, Technical Consulting – DevOps is responsible for leading and growing a high-performing DevOps consulting practice while delivering architectural leadership on strategic Salesforce engagements. This role combines people leadership, practice development, customer advisory, and technical consulting. The Manager is responsible for hiring, mentoring, coaching, and developing DevOps consultants and architects, driving engineering excellence, establishing practice standards, and enabling AI-first software delivery. This is a billable leadership role, where the individual also serves as a DevOps Architect on enterprise customer engagements.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, mentor, and manage a team of DevOps Engineers, Consultants, and Technical Architects.
Drive hiring, onboarding, career development, utilization, succession planning, and performance management.
Deliver DevOps architecture and consulting on customer engagements
Define and drive technical standards for DevOps, Platform Engineering, CI/CD, DevSecOps, AI-assisted engineering, and release governance across the practice.
Establish reusable assets, accelerators, reference architectures, engineering playbooks, and Centers of Excellence.
Build capability roadmaps and enablement programs covering emerging technologies including AI-assisted development, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and Platform Engineering.
Partner with Sales, Account Teams, and Delivery leadership on enterprise pre-sales, technical solutioning, RFP/RFI responses, estimations, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
Lead customer workshops on DevOps transformation, engineering operating models, release modernization, and DevOps maturity.
Champion AI-first engineering by driving adoption of Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and similar AI tools across consulting teams.
Define engineering KPIs, deployment quality metrics, DevOps maturity measures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure successful customer outcomes through technical governance, delivery oversight, risk management, and engineering excellence.
Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance engineering culture.
Minimum Requirements
12–15 years of overall IT experience, including 8+ years in Salesforce DevOps, Platform Engineering, Release Management, or CI/CD.
5+ years leading technical consulting or DevOps engineering teams.
Proven experience building, mentoring, and scaling enterprise DevOps consulting teams.
Strong Salesforce DevOps expertise including Salesforce DX, Metadata API, Salesforce CLI, source-driven development, release management, and deployment automation.
Experience with Copado, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure Repos.
Strong understanding of Platform Engineering, GitOps, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, Kubernetes, automated testing, security integration, and observability.
Experience integrating AI-powered engineering tools such as Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent into engineering workflows.
Strong consulting, customer engagement, and executive communication skills.
Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise Salesforce pre-sales and strategic solutioning.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferred Requirements
Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, Platform Developer, Application Architect, or System Architect.
Experience with Salesforce Industries (Vlocity), Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Agentforce.
Experience establishing DevOps governance frameworks, engineering standards, and Centers of Excellence.
Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, DevOps).
Strong analytical, coaching, and leadership skills with experience managing global delivery teams and driving continuous improvement.
