Job Description:
Power Supply Engineer
About the Role
Power Supply Engineer contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to design, manage interfaces, and prepare the documentation needed for installation, test and placing in service approvals. Its specific contribution is to provide power design inputs, calculations, protection/earthing support, installation support and commissioning evidence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop/review load lists, power requirements, single-line diagrams, UPS/backup arrangements, protection philosophy and earthing/bonding interfaces.
Coordinate power availability for equipment.
Review supplier/subcontract electrical designs, calculations, certificates, installation records and energisation readiness evidence.
Support site surveys, inspections, commissioning, fault investigations and as-built documentation.
Identify power-related risks including capacity, selectivity, resilience, electrical safety, maintainability and access constraints.
Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.
Provide power design inputs, calculations, protection/earthing support, installation support and commissioning evidence.
Discipline authority for power calculations and detailed technical decisions in delegated scope.
Escalates deviations affecting safety, EMC, capacity or constructability.
Key Interfaces
Engineering Manager, Solution Engineering Manager, Installation Design Manager, EMC/EMI Engineer and Work Package Leaders.
Implementation, Construction, Site, T&C, Safety, RAM and Quality teams.
Electrical suppliers/subcontractors and customer/infrastructure owner power-interface stakeholders.
Test readiness.
Authority & Accountability
Accountable for technical correctness of assigned power-supply engineering outputs.
Authorised to challenge unsafe or undersized power arrangements and recommend design/installation corrections.
Escalates power availability or compliance risks to Engineering Manager.
Mandate
Ensure Project systems receive safe, compliant and resilient power suitable for railway operation, testing and maintenance.
Skills & Experience
Electrical engineering experience in rail, infrastructure, industrial, telecoms or mission-critical power systems.
Knowledge of LV distribution, UPS, protection coordination, earthing/bonding, electrical safety and commissioning evidence.
Ability to coordinate power dependencies across many systems.
Resilience and resistance to stress during energisation readiness, site faults and commissioning pressure.
Practical electrical safety mindset and documentation rigour.
More than 5 years in electrical/power systems engineering on infrastructure or industrial Projects.
