About the Team
The Watches team forms a core specialist hub within the Marketplace department, handling everything from classic timepieces to complex modern designs. Drawing on deep product knowledge, the team organises, sorts, lots, and prepares hundreds of watches weekly for both online sales platforms and auction channels.

By accurately identifying each timepiece, this position ensures every item is routed to the correct destination whether listed for auction or direct online sale while maintaining high standards of accuracy and expertise.

What success looks like
- Timepieces are thoroughly evaluated, effectively grouped, and routed onto the most suitable online sales or auction platform based on brand, type, and condition.
- Watch descriptions and technical specs are written with high precision, meeting platform standards and providing clear details for prospective buyers.
- Daily and weekly listing volumes consistently meet departmental goals while upholding strict accuracy and cataloguing standards.
- Working closely alongside production managers and team members maintains a smooth, supportive, and efficient workflow across the department.
What You’ll Do
Operational Excellence
- Navigate internal e-commerce systems and cataloguing tools to process inventory items accurately.
- Research watch reference numbers, hallmarks, and historical data to verify correct specifications when information is incomplete.
- Maintain organised physical batching of items at the assessment station to keep inventory trackable throughout the workflow.
- Cross-check listing entries for errors before final platform submission.
Continuous Improvement
- Share watch-specific knowledge and practical tips with team members during daily operations.
- Highlight workflow bottlenecks or database system issues to department management to help streamline processing.
Compliance
- Adhere to safe handling, transport, and storage procedures for delicate or high-value inventory.
- Apply quality assurance checks so all published data meets both internal standards and external platform requirements.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Demonstrable passion for or practical knowledge of watches, horology, and vintage timepieces.
- Familiarity with watch movement types, brand details, construction, and physical condition grading.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for identifying subtle defects, alterations, or hallmarks.
- Effective written communication skills for writing clear, accurate product descriptions.
- Practical organisational skills to keep physical stock and digital records orderly.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
Helpful
- Experience using e-commerce platforms, database management tools, or inventory software.
- Experience working in a warehouse, auction house, or retail intake environment.
