Job Description

The Director of Special Assets Group is responsible to oversee the day-to-be tasks and performance of the commercial Special Assets Group (SAG). The position will monitor the SAG workout officers and their daily duties of working out any and all commercial loans, including SBA, small business, CRE, C&I, Corporate Finance, Middle Market, Equipment Finance, Sports Finance, Franchise Lending. The Director will oversee any and all audit and compliance tasks for SAG. The Director will oversee quarterly reporting of all SAG Criticized and Classified Loans. The Director will oversee all-appraisals ordered by SAG. The Director will also oversee any special projects set by the Executive Director of Loss Mitigation. 
 
Essential Functions
•    Ensure total document and data integrity
•    Maximize technology tools available
•    Support Northwest’s credit culture that stresses Asset Quality before Profitability and Growth
•    Establish excellent work relationships with lenders with the common interest in mitigating credit losses
•    Promote Northwest’s Mission, Vision, and Values statements
•    Remain compliant with all rules and regulations related to loan workouts and collections
•    Establish meaningful performance metrics to track improvement in effectiveness and efficiency
•    Assist the Credit Administration Department in all matters relating to maintain the credit quality of the loan portfolio, and loan officers in the identification of problem credits
•    Advise on loan and credit risk policy by making recommendations as appropriate
•    Administer and review exist credits assigned to Loss Mitigation to ensure compliance with loan approval documentation
•    Actively participate on the Criticized Asset Committee
•    Mitigate losses in the Special Asset loan portfolio
•    Recommend restructuring of problem loans with the objective of improving collateral position, mitigating credit losses and minimizing collection expenses
•    Work closely with loan recovery staff to recover previously charged-off loans.
•    Recommend and/or execute the sale of troubled loans in lieu of further collection if cost-effective.
•    Employ legal expertise when appropriate to mitigate losses and potential lender liability claims.
•    Identify and consider all potential workout strategies before making the decision/recommendation to charge-off
•    Oversee SBA Collections and stay up-to-date with latest SBA policies and procedures.
•    Manage the annual reviews and goals of SAG
•    Will work closely with the Director of Special Assets Credit to make sure strategy and risk rating is proper 
•    Will work on RCSA with the compliance department
•    Will meet at minimum once a week with Executive Director of Loss Mitigation 
•    Make sure SAG is up to date on any Bank Training 
 
Additional Essential Functions
•    Ensure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
•    Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency
•    Work as part of a team
•    Work with on-site equipment

Safety and Health for Supervisors with Direct Reports
•    Provide leadership and positive direction for maintaining the safety and loss prevention program
•    Actively participate in and support employee participation in the safety and loss prevention program by ensuring that employees know how to properly report a safety issue, making sure that all accidents are promptly reported to Human Resources and documented, and ensuring that prompt action is taken whenever workplace hazards are identified
•    Help implement emergency procedures

Education  
Bachelor's Degree    in business/finance or related subject             
 
Work Experience
8 - 12 years    experience in special assets, repossessed assets, bankruptcy, collections, commercial lending, litigation or loan workouts.

Additional Licenses and Certifications
