Software Engineering Co-op (Cloud)

We’re seeking talented students to join Sonos’s Co-Op Program and explore what it means to blend creativity, technology, and sound. Our co-ops are an essential part of our team, bringing fresh ideas, learning from experts, and helping us push the boundaries of what’s possible. Come broaden your skills, share your input and pursue your passion with our 6 month co-op experience.

Work Period: January 2027 - June 2027

Location & Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a minimum 4 days per week onsite in our Boston, MA  office. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Dive into our cloud services, learning through first hand experience
• Monitor, debug, and be responsible for improving our automated & analytics infrastructure
• Add and democratize new forms of telemetry, data, and metrics to allow the team to measure, debug, and make decisions based on data analytics and dashboards
• Own and update the development experience via automated pipelines that includes timely feedback and a seamless path to release-level quality
• Engineer new automated testing methodologies
• Own services from end-to-end by being part of the on-call rotation
• Collaborate with other cross-functional teams when issues are found in deployed/production features

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Basic Qualifications

• Experience with backend or cloud technologies
• Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, software testing processes, and best practices
• Object-oriented design and coding skills (JavaScript, Java & Python preferred) with knowledge of JSON and API development
• Ability to break down complex problems into elegant, testable pieces
• Demonstrated knowledge in: AWS compute, database, and networking services, RESTful API testing
• Building out and using automated test frameworks: Spring, JUnit, TestNG, Mocha, Jest, Code repositories - Github/Jira

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge with:
  • CI/CD pipelines 
  • Apigee, API gateway solutions
  • Configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Code quality tools (Sonarqube)
  • Data Analytics skills (CloudWatch, DataDog, Tableau, Kibana, Grafana, LOKI)
  • Proficiency in Performance Engineering/Testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling
  • Kubernetes and Docker
  • Jenkins (or other CI build systems)
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, challenge yourself, ask questions, and learn from failure

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a College or University with a preferred field of study in Computer Science (or relevant field).
• Available to participate in our full-time co-op program from January - June 2027
• Ability to work out of our Boston office a minimum 4 days per week
